It is just "okay". it isnt the best quality but it will get you by for a little while until you feel like you need a better one. The nut on it is a pain. You can swap the ruler around, but that wasnt easy on mine either. I had to take it all the way apart to be able to do it easily. When you tighten down the nut, it sometimes wants to rack a little bit, which isnt a good thing when you are trying to get something as close to square as possible. If you dont need great accuracy, and just need to get something "pretty close", then this will do just fine. If you are looking for something accurate, go ahead and spend a little more money on something else.

Cheaply made combo square
Appears to be square but is very cheaply made. Super lightweight (read: not sturdy). Skinny ruler. Can I recommend the Swanson combo square without seeming like a competitor? Plastic non threaded head and neck on the scribe means it will fall out and get lost in no time. But at least it's square

Brass holds. Aluminum doesn't.
I've been using this square off and on for a little over a year, and I just had to break away from my workbench-building project to write this review. The threaded parts which are supposed to lock the ruler in place on the guide are aluminum. And as such it is virtually impossible to keep the ruler from eventually working loose from the guide. Try as I might to lock down the knurled nut, I am constantly frustrated by its inability to hold. For instance, I just now wanted to position my 4-ft straight edge on a sheet of plywood as a fence to guide my sabre saw to make a 90 degree perpendicular cut at one end. I "locked" the ruler in place as needed to position one end of the straight edge by pushing it gently against the end of the ruler. as the guide was held against the plywood, and a C-clamp was applied to hold the level in place. Then when I went to repeat that step at the other end of the straight edge, the ruler slipped. I've had it. I'm ordering a "real square" with a brass lock bolt and nut It's worth the extra cost to save years more of aggravation.

Shipped in a padded bag and arrived bent
The square arrived in a padded bag and was bent. This precision measuring device should have been shipped in a box. Generally poor grade for packaging. I did manage to straighten out ... almost ... sigh. The connection to the ruler groove seems to be somewhat loose and does not grip as well as I would like.

Be sure to order inches or mm.
I had to send mine back because it was in mm only not inches but it seemed to be a good tool.

Four Stars
nice for price
P**.
Disappointed
Im only giving this 2 stars because the combination square looks cheap. Don't get me wrong the tool works great and is very squared, but whoever made it machined the flat surfaces really thin. For the same price you can head down to lowes or home depot and buy a way better quality square. Not the kind of tool you feel proud to let someone use it when they need it.
