I bought this for more research & insight on the mysteries of the Goddesses Demeter & Persephone. It was a another resource on the Golden era of the Greeks & their religion.

The essays in this book are rich, varied, engaging. Most of all I appreciated those by the editor, Christine Downing. The depth of her analysis of Persephone in Hades, and the meaning of the dark night of the soul, was profoundly illuminating for me. Anyone who wishes to explore this myth in relation to her life, and also in relation to the archetypal experience of descent and renewal, willfind this book a rich resource.

Oh, so many ways to look at one story... And to realize that story is our own. With every turn off this gem, new facets and reflections glimmer. A very interactive read.

Fascinating reading that I totally whipped through and couldn't get enough. Thought provoking and inspires deep self examination. Loved it!
