Is there a customization application which opens from the XBox dashboard to set the custom key mapping?

There’s a manual switch on the custom made bottom shell. Turn it on, hold down the the button and the allocated bottom button for 3-5 seconds, the blue led blinks and then that button is assigned. The bottom buttons are remapable so you can do that as many times as you wish.

Fair warning, there is a fair amount of soldering to be done with this mod. I did it for my son even though I hadn’t touched a soldering iron since middle school.

If your not used to using a soldering iron I would watch a few YouTube videos on the subject.

My son loves his controller though and definitely makes games like cod and destiny a much more enjoyable experience.

How many button can you set to one key? Like can i set say RT+B to one button on the back

Can I use different side buttons or do I have to use the ones this comes with?

The tactile push-buttons this kit comes with have standard attachment points so you can use any tops on them you want. You will find a lot on ebay or perhaps even here on Amazon that will fit. However I don't think there are any specific gaming ones. The selection will just be the type of button caps that people use for electronics. To be honest the tops that come in the box are okay enough--not brilliant, not terrible. I do not see a lot of point in replacing them. They will be under the joypad most of the time and out of sight. They certainly feel comfortable enough to my finger-ends!

What I *have* considered is finding some proper miniaturised microswitches to replace the tactile buttons entirely, but... The charm of this kit is the utility you buy for less than a quarter of the cost of 'professional' joypads with back buttons. Once you begin re-customizing it with either new switches or button-tops you also begin to erode that saving.
