The original NiCad batteries (or the charger) for my B&D cordless driver (FP800) gave up the ghost years ago. I hated the thought of trashing the tool, as it was well suited to the light driving and drilling tasks I used it for. I decided to see if there was a replacement for the NiCad Versapack batteries. Found these3.6V Li-Ion batteries with charger and figured I'd try. We'll, for, fit & function are on the spot, and my driver now works fine. For my purposes, this was a good buy, and I'll be dropping the old batteries off at the big-box retailer for recycling.

Before purchasing this battery charger my single battery charger worked great until it fell out of the wall socket and then I had to charge it up for hours before I could use it again. This two battery unit sits in a very safe cradle using an USB connection.Having a fully charged spare battery is a very practical idea. Using USB for charging makes charging more versatile. For those two reasons this is a perfect choice.

I'm glad to have these to breath new life into my old B&D cordless screwdriver. The charger works great, but you need your own power supply. Any wall-wart with a USB-A port should work.I was looking at getting a new cordless screwdriver sold by the fluorescent yellow brand "R", but their offering doesn't have the clutch feature that my old B&D screwdriver has, and by reviews is not as powerful, so I passed on it. That's when it hit me to see if aftermarket batteries are available for the B&D, and thus I now have these!I've seen reviews of batteries fitting tightly in the tools. I agree that these fit tightly, but it doesn't take much to remove the battery. I think with use the label material will wear down and allow for easier removal.The only con is that these do not come with new battery safety caps for storage. The caps prevent other tools from short circuiting the battery. Including new caps would be a good differentiator for a brand to make their batteries more attractive (note to manufacturer).

The battery died for my old Black and Decker cordless screwdriver. These batteries worked perfectly. The fit is a little tight though. You have to work hard to get them out. I liked the charging stand.

I purchased this is August 2023. Only used the charger a couple of times. Used the batteries a a handful of times without having to charge them yet.I plugged in the charger a bit ago and put both batteries in it to recharge them. It’s been a couple months, so might as well. The little red lights turned on for both indicating they are charging so I left it to go do other things.About an hour later I noticed the smell of burning electronics and melting plastic. I looked over and saw smoke coming out of the charging station. I quickly unplugged it and tossed it only my back patio.Until this moment, the batteries were very good. Worked well and didn’t give me any issues. I obviously can’t trust them now that they could have been compromised by the charger. I’ll have to look elsewhere for replacements or get a different screwdriver entirely.I’d highly recommend not using the charger as it doesn’t appear to be safe.It only lasted a bit over 4 months, not a very good track record.

The batteries seem to be of high quality. They charge up well. The battery charger also works as expected.
