To begin installation I tilted the tailgate a few degrees until i felt the right side was pull of the right hinge. Then I released both safety cables, and pulled the tailgate to the right and off comes the tail gate. At this point you'll need a socket or wrench to remove some bolts attached to the rusted out hinges and on the tailgate. Be sure to pay attention to what hinge comes off what side so you can recall how the new ones will be installed. The tailgate is not all that heavy, it's just bulky. I was able to do it by myself, but another person just makes it all the more easier. Entire job from start to finish, and taking my time to pay attention to things, it took me 20 minutes. A mechanic could do this job in 5 or 10 minutes. It's only 8 bolts in total. This kit does not come with bolts, you simply reuse the ones you have. and my original bolts were fine to install. They almost look brassy but are solid and appear very well made. They do not come with hardware si if you can't use the existing hardware be sure to have new on hand. They are very easy to change as long as you can handle the tailgate, which must be fully removed. The hinges are marked left and right for correct placement and fit perfectly. Once installed the gate fits right back in and works very smoothly. The weather resistance is important and hopefully will outlast the vehicle. For the price these hinges are an excellent buy. I ordered 2 sets but sold one set , very quickly, for the price I paid.
