Medical Terminology: An Illustrated Guide

This is a good book for learning medical terminology. I am studying to become a Medical Coder at home by myself. Even if you don't want to be a Medical Coder, most jobs in the health care industry, such as medical receptionist, admissions clerk, data-entry clerk, all want the candidate to have medical terminology knowledge and application. This is the book to learn it from!The book "breaks down" each medical words to really explain the the meanings of the prefix, suffixes and root. There are tests within each chapter to check your comprehension and progress and additionally, case studies to give you examples. I love the colorful and informative illustrations in this book. It is well written with very clear explanations with the end of chapter assessments so you can review what you have learned before moving on to the next chapter.

I bought this as a supplement to a medical billing and coding certification class. I had no idea how student-friendly, straightforward, detailed and easy to understand this would be. This is a great tool for someone who has NO medical background all the way to the professional. I will never regret buying this; illustrations are detailed, extremely helpful, and there are even chapter reviews and quizzes throughout the book to make sure you've absorbed the material. You can teach yourself with this book, I'm so glad I bought this in lieu of paying a lot of money for a medical terminology class. It starts out very basic and you can work your way through at your own pace. Even comes with a CD and access to additional on-line resources. Couldn't ask for anything better.

Very well written, well organized, and flat-out one of the best school related publications I have ever purchased. The CD that comes with it is okay and the flash-cards really don't cover very much. That said, I would recommend anyone on the path to a health career read and do the practice questions in this book.

Show lot picture and it really helpful. Book give more clear and understand what medical term mean. Very clear and even with picture. Great book for who have hard time to understand in medical term or have zero skill of medical term.

I love everything about it. Its has ample practice tests for review. Plus the CD has additional practice activities. Anatomy is covered here and tested in the Chapter Review.

Haven't used a whole lot just yet, but I think it will be very helpful when working in the hospital while earning my master's to become an SLP.
