Averages 64 FPS; Nerf’s age of mediocrity is worsening.
My ProChrono Digital chronograph measured the speed of the darts fired by this stock Nerf Zombiestrike Ghoulgrinder blaster at an average of 64 feet per second (FPS) using Nerf Elite darts (it is capable of shooting any blue, green, white, orange, yellow, Accustrike, or any decorated darts). The typical average velocity of a Nerf Mega blaster is 70-80 FPS, so this blaster is somewhat underpowered. It lacks Slam-fire, which is the ability to fire off darts in rapid succession by holding down the firing trigger and repeatedly priming the blaster to fire a dart off every time it is primed. Now leaving it out of the Ghoulgrinder was not a dealbreaker (but it would have been nice to have). This blaster has been designed to look like an improvised grinding tool during a zombie apocalypse. It has an awkward rotating turret that rotates 10 darts forward from the top down, but at least it allows you some visibly so that you know when you are about to run out of ammunition. 5 tube holes stick out on the top rear section of the blaster, allowing you to store 5 spare darts so you can reload your blaster [somewhat] faster. Here you will find a sling mount behind the tubes. There are other sling mounts under the middle of the blaster, and one under the removable shoulder stock, but let’s talk about the shoulder stock: this thing is beyond cheap looking. It is so skeletonized that looks unfinished on the left side. It is one thing to not paint the non-display side of a blaster (that too, is what Hasbro did to the Ghoulgrinder) but to leave out the plastic on one side is just a plain bad business practice. Anyway, it is solid but uncomfortable. Looking for a positive about the shoulder stock I saw a hole for a single dart to fit through as a storage, but alas, the hole is too big and no dart can be stored in it. There is a standard N-strike tactical rail on the top dead center of the blaster for Nerf accessories/ attachments. There are also 4 slots that look like vents which travel through the blaster that seem to only serve as an aesthetic that is lost to me. Like the new Nerf LongStrike, the priming handle is easy to attach because it has a metal threaded bar to screw into the blaster. However, I can see it coming loose during regular play of the user is not conscious of how much the handle is turning. It rattles around loosely, giving the illusion that it isn’t fully secured when it is, and also doesn’t seem to be able to be fully tightened because it continuously spins instead of locks in place. Lastly, the Ghoulgrinder has an N-strike front barrel attachment point. In conclusion, Zombiestrike Ghoulgrinder is an underpowered and oversized quirky gimmick blaster. My first impression was that this is not going to be worth it’s weight with such a long profile (primary blaster) that wields an ammo capacity of only 10 darts. After having used it, unfortunately the Zombiestrike Ghoulgrinder was unable to impress me. It boggles the mind that the designers go out of their way to decorate the shell of the blaster with designs and then Hasbro goes and forgoes painting it, even going so far as to leave out the plastic panel on the “dark side” of the stock. Boo on you Hasbro, boo on you.

No bullets and no real package
Disappointed it didn't come packaged as advertised. Just in a plain box and no bullets. Not much fun without the bullets, at least I realized this before Christmas so I could get some.
