Exceptional antenna.
I can not express how pleased I am with this antenna!!!! Story: Just bought a camper in February. Brand New. It had come with a omni-directional TV/AM/FM antenna. It was sort of a mushroom shaped affair that would only receive about three TV channels in a major metropolitan city where I know there were dozens more. The radio reception was worse. I did my research and looked at countless reviews before buying this antenna. It seemed to be the highest rated antenna of it's type out there. Arrived in perfect shape with everything that was supposed to be included. My installation was different from others in that I was not retro fitting an old raise/swivel type antenna, so treated it as a new install. When I started removing the previous antenna, I noticed that the manufacturer did a really bad job with the RG-6 connectors. Loose connections, stingers (center conductor) WAY too long, kinked cables etc. So I thought I would attempt to clean up the bad install first and give the original antenna a second chance. No luck there. It was just as bad as before! Out came the old antenna and in went this one. The instructions are excellent and I had the new one up and running in about two hours total. I immediately got 65 (count 'em) 65 channels!!! When I fine tuned the directional knob a little, I got 67. Of course I Dicor 'ed the new unit very well. I also installed a separate radio antenna and that works well too. Forgot to mention that I did everything I could to make sure my receiving equipment wasn't the problem. If fact, the radio worked better with a coat hanger in it than it did with the original antenna, and the TV got about ten channels holding an inexpensive indoor antenna out the window of the camper. I am SO pleased with this antenna. Have not experienced any troubles as pointed out in some reviews.

Great antenna
This antenna exceeds all of my expectations. I get lots of channels in HD quality now I very much like the antenna adjustment inside with the digital lights for locating signal. Thank you for a great antenna.

Much better than the manufacturers antenna.
Better reception. Easier to adjust. And I don't have to worry about lowering it like the original.

So far, great
Picks up 61 channels about 3 times the amount the old batwing did - before it quit working. I like that I don't have to worry about making sure it's down on move days. One less thing to worry about. The technician made it look easy to install.

Much better reception
This gets much better reception than the junky factory one. I also love that I don’t have to extend and retract it. The signal indicator is really cool too.

Changing my rating, it does work on HDTV
Changing my first review, After working with the Antenna, making sure it has power, it does pick up HDTV Signal, at first, I though it was only for VHF/UHF Channels which is now obsolete in Canada in most areas... Though I'm quite far from TV Towers I did pick up 6 channels, I'm sure if I was near a major city it will puck up signal and lots of channels...

Worked great
After I had removed the old antenna and cleaned up the sealer on the roof I laid the mounting plate on the roof in the install position. I then outlined it with a sharpy pen on the roof. That made it very simple to put the sealer on the roof just inside of the line and it also lined the hole in the roof to put the cable in. I then installed the antenna on the roof plate , put a heavy bead of sealer on the roof just inside the outline and mounted the plate to the roof with self drilling screws. When every thing was screwed down tight I then run another bead of sealer around the plate and screws.

Works great, should be shipped with the optional mounting plate.
My original antenna brought in only one channel. This antenna is bringing in 18 in crystal clear quality. The signal strength indicator is a nice feature, which aids in locating the proper direction for the best signal strength. One complaint is that it does not ship with the MB200 mounting plate. The plate is an optional item. However, once you remove an existing antenna and discover that the whole in the roof is too large to be covered by the base, you are stuck and ordering the optional mounting plate is not practical. At this price point it should be included, or at leased mentioned as possibly required for a retrofit installation in the description of the product. Another issue that needs to be resolved is the rotation mechanism. My RV roof is sloped and the large square rotation shaft comes in at an angle. This causes the locking mechanism to work only at some rotational points. The square shaft needs to be able to bend to allow for the slope in the roof.

Converted the 8501 electronics with signal strength meter to this cheaper 8401.
I had a King Jack 8501 with the signal strength meter, but the bat-wing antenna blew off while driving. No visible damage and the King Jack people suggested it was missing a bolt in the original installation.I bought the 8401 without the meter and put the 8501 electronics into it. It works fine. The only trick was that the 8501 needs a female coax connection at one point and the 8401 only has male connections. I used a short coax female connecting wire to solve the problem and wound it around the mast.
