USB C Magnetic Adapter Straight

Not only does this provide ease of used with using docking the Steam Deck to a Dock/HUB, but it addresses a problem that many USB ports suffer from. The constant insertion and removal of plugs weaken ports over time. With this gadget, I know I can prolong the life of my lil decky as I insert this into the USB once, and thats it. Im saving the ports life in the long time. One concern I had was that over time, the magnets would weaken. Ive been using this plugs for either a year or more now, and they still work as new now. Full video, Audio and charging. No problem. If you have a Steam Deck and a Dock, I highly reccommend this.

Only gripe is that the magnet could be a bit stronger. The amount of force needed to move the magnet off the quick release is the same amount of force of a penny dropped onto the cable from a foot high. But it holds so long as there is no external forces pushing off the magnet. It works really well.

I have a dock on my desk setup for connection of my MacBook Pro to monitor, ethernet, power and USB devices. Hated aways having to plug the USB-C cables in and out of the MacBook when using the dock. A pair of the USB magnetic adapters fixed this with easy connection and eliminating the need to plug and unplug.

It works as advertised, but it adds an awkward bump to the device when plugged it. It's not big, but when you aren't used to it being there, it's awkward. Also, the magnets aren't that strong. It can easily become detached without realizing it. The whole thing is big and awkward. I just went back to a standard charging cable. I know it's connected, it stays connected and you can use the device while charging w/o it constantly disconnecting.

The idea was appealing. I miss the magsafe plugs on my macbook. Bless you apple for bringing that back. After breaking my 3rd USB-C cord, this seemed like a great idea. But the magnet is so week that I had to handle the laptop and cord gingerly to keep it attached. More often than not, any movement would pull the magnetic connection apart. So this piece of junk went into the scrapheap of crummy widgets and badly made products that no matter what the price are worthless. DON'T BOTHER. THIS IS JUNK

This might work ok, but the magnetic polarity is reversed from the ones I already had. They're the right size, but I needed a straight adapter that worked with my existing 90 degree angled adapters. If you're buying this as your only one, it'll probably be fine, but don't count on it to work with existing adapters. It's also somewhat expensive compared to the 3 pack of angled adapters I got prior to this.

I bought the straight connector to use with my phone in the car. The data connection works as Android Auto comes.up; however, the magnet is very weak. I haven't decided if I will keep it but am trying to figure out if it will work for my needs. Beyond that, the quality is acceptable.

Acheté pour protéger la prise USB C de mon casque Quest 2 car en raison d'un problème logiciel, je dois brancher et débrancher ma batterie supplémentaire à chaque utilisation d'où risque de casse de celle-ci. Pour cet usage, l'adaptateur tient bien et ne bouge pas. Par contre si vous voulez y connecter le câble USB pour relier votre Quest 2 à l'ordinateur, le câble est trop lourd et l'adaptateur ne tiendra pas en place quand vous jouerez. Mais je suis très satisfait de mon achat car mon problème de batterie est provisoirement résolu en attendant une correction du bug informatique de mon casque (Meta y travaille d'après le Occulus Store Support).

This is something I should have bought a long time ago. Through a couple of years heavy use with my mobile phone, I managed to cause enough wear and tear on the USB-C port that connection (power and data) became somewhat unstable. As I get more and more pricey gadgets with USB-C connectors, that are frequently charged, my thoughts are turning to make sure that doesn't happen with them so I gave this a try. It's a nice solid little unit and it supports PD up to 100W as well as video passthrough and full 10Gbps data speed, making it essentially 'transparent' to anything you are likely to want to connect. The unit feels solid and well constructed. There's a nice compact receptacle that plugs into your USB-C socket on the target device and adds mininal bulk as well as a 'dongle' type connector that you plug your USB-C cable into. This is maybe 1.5cm long and pretty compact so it shouldn't block adjacent ports to adjoining cables. The two parts join with a nice click and a solid-feeling magntic connection. You can apply a small amount of force to disconnect but overall it is a lot less strain on the port than plugging/unplugging a regular USB-C cable, which is why I got it. All those small operations can add up to wear and tear over time. Also, should you trip over the cable you aren't going to damage the port as it will disconnect relatively easily. In use, it is working really well. I initially got one for my Steamdeck and it works great for charging. Then later I got an official dock and the 'dongle' part for the external cable is short enough that I can still use it with the attached USB connector of the dock - very handy. I get a full charge (either through the dock or directly from the power adaptor) and it has no problems with the transfer of video or data. One thing to note is that the mangetic connection is not strong enough to be suitable for powering the deck while playing and holding it in your hands .. you will almost certainly break the connection if you move the deck, with the weight of the USB cable hanging off it. Same goes if you try to 'hang' something off the USB-C connector, like a portable hub with a short cable and the deck upright. However, with the official dock and integral interconnect it is absolutely fine in the docked configuration. I liked it so much I got a couple more sets to use with my Quest 2 VR headset, with an elite battery strap. Because of a bug in the way the battery works, you really need to disconnect it from the Quest 2 when not in use or the Quest 2 will exert a 'vampire drain' on it and run it down in a couple of days. I had no problems using the dongle inbetween the battery pack and the headset, fits snugly and does not accidentally disconnect but is easily to manually disconnect when the set is not in use, saving wear and tear. I also put another connector on the battery pack's input port itself, to save wear and tear there when charging. Again, works great. Conclusions. I've only been using it for a couple of months so I can't comment on long term durability, but in day to day use it has been absolutely fantastic and has completely fulfilled the purpose I bought it for. I would recommend anyone with USB-C devices that need charging or frequent connect/disconnects to get something like this. The only criticism I would have is that you seem to be only able to purchase in single packs of the receptacle/dongle and can't get separate dongle parts for adding to lots of different cables. I'd love to be able to buy a multipack of dongles to kit out several charging and connector cables for increased flexibility.

No more trying to line up your cable with the socket. I am exceptionally pleased with this cable and the plug it just makes life so much easier. The socket on my laptop was becoming loose or at least there was movement there which made me worry how long it would last after using this cable and plug combination I'll never have to worry. Would thoroughly recommend to my friends and family, well worth the investment.
