I will be traveling for 19 days, changing locations every 3-4 days .how do you pack/store these while traveling?

The best storage solution is the one you already own! So, anything out of your reusable container cupboard that fits the airtightness bill will get the job done. We’ve seen very cute options like old tobacco or candy tins, too. Just make sure your bars are totally dry before you put them in, otherwise you’ll arrive with a container full of mush. Tips for speed drying your bars in a hurry When time is of the essence and you have a plane to catch shortly after using your bar in the shower, a few speed drying hacks will come in handy! Not even the best storage solution will help the drying process and if you were eyeballing the hair dryer, just don’t. Using heat to dry your bar will melt it and nobody wants that. Tip #1: If you are in a hurry, pop your bar on a flannel or towel near an open window and get that airflow going while you finish packing and getting ready. Just don’t forget to grab it before you go! Tip #2: If you have access to a hot water cupboard where the hot water cylinder resides, this will be a welcome time-saver. Lie your bar flat on a flannel or towel and shut the cupboard, but don’t forget to retrieve it on your way out. Super easy right? Allowing your bars to drain and dry before popping it into your storage container of choice is pretty much all you need to keep your bar with you throughout your travels. I purchased the sample pack for dry hair and both shampoos left my hair feeling like straw. Is there a better bar that doesn't do this?

Thanks so much for letting us know how you're getting on, although I'm sorry to hear you're hair is left feeling like straw! I'd love to help you out with this. Sometimes if customers change up the way they're using the product, they find they get much better results. I've copied some details down below for how to best use our shampoo & conditioner bars, which may help you out. :) Our bars are very concentrated and only a small amount of product is needed. We recommend thoroughly wetting your hair (and wetting the bar too), gently swiping it just a few times from root to tip (4-5 times), then placing the bar down and building up a lather with your fingers. As tempting as it is to, there's no need to keep swiping the bar to hair until a lather begins to build; by this stage, it's likely that too much product has already been deposited to strands. If you have oily hair, we recommend washing twice - the second time, you should get a deeper cleanse and more lather with only a tiny amount of product. Another common issue is that customers will lather the bar in their hands like soap however this doesn't give you enough product at all and you'll essentially be cleaning your hands instead! Similarly, only a few swipes of our conditioner bars are needed (4-5) - hair won't feel slippery on application the way it will with liquid conditioners, but the silky magic happens when the conditioner is rinsed out. If you have thick hair, to make applying product on easier, I'd recommend sectioning hair into two or four, and rubbing the bar on each section to make sure there is enough product distributed - in saying this a little goes a long way, so make sure you aren't using too much! 😊 I hope the above tips helps out! ~Maisie

How do these work with hard water?

Hi Mimi, Thanks so much for your question about hard water! Hard water only affects soap-based products. As our shampoo bars are 100% soap-free, they should be perfectly fine and won't leave any residue due to the water. A lot of shampoo bars on the market do contain soap, which leave a waxy-textured residue on the hair as the pH level of soap is much higher than that of hair (too alkaline). This is why some manufacturers of such shampoo bars sometimes recommend following washes with an apple cider vinegar rinse - the acidity of the vinegar is meant to neutralize the alkalinity of the soap in these bars in order to prevent the residue from forming. It is highly likely that this soap residue was the cause of the waxiness issues you've experienced with shampoo bars in the past, especially in combination with hard water. Ethique's shampoo bars, however, are just that: shampoo without the water. They are 100% soap-free and formulated at a pH level which is complementary to human hair (pH level 4.5 - 6, depending on the water). This means no residue or build-up will form! Perfect for travel

These worked beautifully and were perfect for reducing the amount of liquids we brought on the plane. The soap bar lasted the longest but I would recommend purchasing more shampoo and conditioner bars if for women.

No discernable scent difference

This is my first time using a shampoo/conditioner bar. I got the trial pack to see if I'd like it, and because this particular one included the shaving bar which my fiancé used on his beard and neck.The "shaving bar" left his beard feeling exceptionally soft! I love how it feels after using this product. I'm not the biggest fan of minty scents, so that's the only downside (for me personally).The shampoo bar lathers incredibly well. Surprisingly well! This shampoo does not strip oils super well however. Both my fiancé and I used it, and we both had the same results where we felt our hair wasn't as clean as it could be. Neither of us get really bad oily scalps, but we both do have oil. So if you're the type who has very oily hair, or even moderately oily, this bar is probably not the one for you.The conditioner was easy to use, went on smoothly, and left both of our hair feeling very nice. No complaints there.Biggest problem is the scent wasn't there for me. The shampoo smelled basically like the face bar, which smells basically like the conditioner bar. [We got a second trial pack and they all have the same smell as the first box, with only the slightest hints of other scent. And I do mean *slightest*.]I will probably try other brands, as opposed to buying a full sized bar of any kind from this company, because scent really matters to me.

It sort of works.

The pink bar worked fine as a shampoo. The blue bar being advertised as a shampoo/shave bar is disconcerting. I’m not the biggest fan of multi use toiletries. I didn’t bother using it as shampoo. The green bar was the worst of the three. It was difficult to fully coat all of my hair with the conditioner. And it didn’t rinse out super well and left greasy patches.It’s such a shame. I’ll keep them for travel u til they’re gone. The packaging says you get about 10 uses per bar and so far they’ve gotten 3 out of me. I might try a different conditioner from this brand because the shampoo didn’t suck.OH! This isn’t high end shampoo and conditioner. It’s pretty basic. Equivalent to the cheap stuff from the dollar store.

I bought this for travel but now I’m a convert!

I bought this little sample pack to try based on a friend’s recommendation. I wanted to have fewer liquid bottles to worry about when flying on a recent trip.Just a single wash and I could tell the difference. A couple washes in and I swear my hair has never been healthier. It’s strong, great volume, minimal frizz, gorgeous shine. I can actually wash my hair just once and not twice per shower (which I have always have to do for my super fine greasy hair), then just a couple minutes to condition it, and I spend the next 48 hours looking like I’m on set for a shampoo commercial. I’m using like half the amount of dry shampoo and my hair looks and feels cleaner for an entire extra day. It’s wild.So, I have now ordered a full size of the pinkalicious shampoo bar and the guardian conditioner bar and I am unlikely to go back. Like ever. I get healthy, beautiful hair and the peace of mind of not putting more plastic trash into landfills (that stuff does not get recycled!) all for a good price and they last for ages??? Where is the downside???

Not impressed

Size is very small. Did not lather at all and my hair still felt dirty. I had to use regular shampoo. Do not recommend and would not purchase again.

Works really well. I’m switching over from bottles of shampoo and conditioner to solids. Eliminating plastic where I can.

Surprisingly bad

For how big a brand this has become I was surprised at how BAD it was. I have fine, light, and dry hair.I used the pinkalicious.1. It had little to no suds2. It felt like it was pullung and leaving a waxy oily residue. My hair didnt seem clean at all!3. The smell was weird. It didnt smell natural either it smelled more like vaseline. Not great.Then I used the green conditioning bar. That was moderately ok but it didnt slick my hair and it still felt so nasty I ended up using my husbands 2 in 1 shampoo to wash it all out.Would not reccomend this to anyone.For now Ill stick with my HiBar.
