I would say yes, especially if it is like a sewn on patch. If it is like a screen print patch, probably not so much, but you could maybe tape it off so it doesn't get color on it.

Does it matter what kind of vinegar you use?

I would use white vinegar over apple cider, but I don't know if using ACV would effect your results or not
