Nice steel block - didn't buy to use as a bench block but to use a mobile antenna inside.
Needed a chunk of meatal to put a mag mount antena on - was hoping this would work - and it does great. It's also heavy enough I don't have to worry about it getting knocked over.

Nice little block of steel
I got this for hammering copper rivets, and I have been very pleased. It's a great size: wide enough to provide a substantial base, but small enough to be maneuverable in case you're working at an awkward angle. There's also something very aesthetically satisfying about a little rectangle of solid steel. It is quite heavy for its size! It came with a coat of oil that I wiped off with a paper towel so it wouldn't stain the leather I was working with, but I do recommend keeping it lightly oiled between uses; I like jojoba oil for steel, but mineral oil would probably work fine too. Since this one doesn't come with its own rubber foot, I've been using a silicone potholder to supply a sturdy, non-slip base, and that seems to work just as well.

Sometimes you just have to wack someting.
And this block is great. Smooth and even and very heavy. It is going nowhere and it will not mark my metal as my old block (Cheap) did. Worth every penny. Well packed and oiled. A bit stinky but that makes you feel a bit of a pro, cleaning and polishing a new block to put on your bench, (old desk). Love it. Many thanks.

Its got oil on it!... lol FOR GOOD REASON!
a note on the Oils, it came with a little oil, AS IT SHOULD!!... Everything is perfect with this block, (people have mentioned its off by a few mm's on measurements) not something i personally care about on this item as it is not build to "fit" anything that needs 100% accurate dimensions (at least for me).on to the reason i gave it 5 stars.1.smooth, scratch, dent, chip, free2. 'sharp' 90degree corners, no dings.3.HARD, i haven't dented it with anything, I'm sure it will if you misuse it or hit it with a sharp point of hardened steel4. shipped fast, and with amazon prime (free 2 day shipping), it came in the two days it said it would.5. exactly what i wanted for making rings, banging out home made knives(starting from 3 ft welding steel bands and a "soup can forge") and whatever else i want to make i am confident it will be quite perfect for many more small jobs.

Steel Bench Block - 4" x 4" x 3/4"
Steel Bench Block arrived on time and as described but the packaging was absolutely ATROCIOUS!The Priority Mail Padded envelope had 4 large tears. The block was sent in a cardboard box that was the same size as the block, and it was completely wrecked. The box wasn't sealed, and the plastic bag, containing the block with the lubricant/oil used to protect the block (and there was a lot of it), was open on one end and leaking all over the place. There was NO protection or padding for the box beside the Padded envelope. Clearly, the Priority Mail Padded envelope was not strong enough to handle the weight of the block, and it didn't survive the normal Post Office handling. Finally, the Post Office had to place the envelope in its own sealed plastic because of the leaking. WHAT A MESS! I am sure the Post Office loved this! I am surprised they let this go through the mail.I opened it over a garbage can because of all of the leakage. I had to wear a plastic garbage bag while opening it to protect my clothing. The oil is a very heavy lubricant.Obviously, I am not the first person to mention the oil/lubricant, but the packaging, which was totally INCOMPETENT and CHEAP, resulted in an incredible mess. The Seller needs to send the block in a leak-proof plastic zip-lock bag, wrapped in plastic bubbles, in a sturdy box so it doesn't move or leak NOT in a "weak" Priority Mail Padded envelope. If you buy this block, I suggest you ask the Seller for BETTER packaging or the above experience could happen to you.

Bench Block by SE - Steel 4"x4" - 3/4"thick - JT34443SB
This Bench Block by SE - is a nice small workbench block for working metal and plastic. It is machined and smooth and polished to a fine sheen. I have two blocks and this is the smaller. I have a combined task workbench and use it for jewelry and working other hobbies. I feel that for this price you just can't go wrong to purchase this handy block. It is hefty and cleans up well. I use a Brass hammer, so there is no need to worry at all about dinging this block.

Great product!
Super fast delivery!! Product looks and feels like it's good quality. Packaging worked great, the metal block was sealed in a plastic bag with oil to keep it from getting rusty. It was easy to clean off and didn't smell bad. This should work great for using as a base for pressing letters into metal tags for jewelry.

A Triumph of Design for Functionality
It is rare that a design achieves all of its usability objectives. This is one such rare occasion. It's a simple block of polished steel. Not too large and not too small. Just Goldilocks-right. What could possibly be done to improve such a masterpiece of design?I added a non-skid rubber pad to the bottom to protect my desktop and to prevent it from slipping. You can find this material here on Amazon. Add this to the bottom and you will have achieved usability nirvana.

This is, indeed, a solid steel block!
It's very heavy for its size and has nice precise edges. For some reason if came covered in oily brown liquid of some kind which was gross. Maybe the blacksmith rinsed it in dirty burnt metal water and put it straight in the bag for packaging without drying it. It didn't smell like much, but liquid in packaging is always disgusting.I washed it in dish soap and flattened some 16 gauge stainless steel wire right away which is what I bought it for. I wasn't sure it would work without damaging the block too much but it's perfectly fine. I was also not sure the wire would flatten the same as copper would but it does. I'm sure it will accumulate scratches from repetitive contact with the hammer eventually since steel is hard enough to scratch steel.I bought a solid steel anchored ball peen hammer on Amazon which works great with it. (Always buy hammers with steel handles. It's so dangerous when the glue on the wooden ones eventually fail.)

Good quality, perfect size.
I really like this as a replacement for an Anvil. It is dam solid and heavy, the quality of the steel seems really good. Perfect for hammering rivets, the 6 x 6 size is also really nice, lost of room to work. Only down side is if your trying to work in really tight spaces.
