I really like the way this herb tastes. Fo-ti (or He Shou Wu) and Rehmannia are my two favorite tasting herbs and they both have similar functions, but this review will be about Fo-Ti. The taste is because the raw root is processed by cooking it in a broth of black soybeans. Someone discovered that this activates some of the beneficial qualities of the plant. This herb is essentially an adrenal tonic. It will support the kidneys, adrenal glands and libido. It is used by martial artists to help strengthen joints and build the bones. It is said to prevent or reverse hair greying and hair fall in men, but to notice any affect you would probably have to make serious dietary changes like cutting out alcohol, caffeine and high Omega-6 fat foods among other things. He shou wu has a cooling energy and is a good general rejuvenative herb for pitta or fire type constitutions. Find out your Ayurvedic constitution, it can be helpful! It is very unctious, thick and heavy, so if you have sluggish digestion or experience extra mucous when using this, you might have to use it only short term OR address some of the other things in you life that cause you mucus such as dairy, excessive wheat comsumption, meat, sugar, etc. I experienced the quality of this particular brand to be excellent.

I was skeptical at first because of the negative side effects that I read when I researched this. But since I take no medications, drink mostly water, and am not a big meat eater I felt my liver should be healthy enough to try it. Plus these were warnings from websites. None of the hundreds of reviews I have read really say anything negative. That being said, I am enjoying this. The taste was unexpected and it’s interesting that I can drink it as a tea. I prefer it in smoothie though. I feel steady energy after I take it and am still watching to see if it will get rid of these few grays. Good product!

I looked into it for my hair...and to help with whatever little gray hair was having. I cannot say about hair fall issue yet BUT I do have more energy, I wake up early and fresh and overall my skin looks healthier and thicker. I love it and thank the Fo-Ti root for it's blood cleansing, energy enhancing and beautifying the skin qualities. In TCM, this herb is considered for nourishing the liver and kidneys and in purifying the blood. I will be happy to continue taking this and have NO doubt it is (though subtle right now) helping me with my hair as well. Also, the taste is good - it is both slightly bitter and sweet. I mix it with my plant based milk, cacao, cacao butter, and some mushroom powder by the same brand. It mixes well - I do warm the milk slightly. I love the taste. Happy to be this brand's customer.

Tastes earthy like ginseng root. Gives me energy when I drink it.

Update: I'm not sure if my body adjusted to the dosage or what, but after a year or so, grey hairs started coming back (not a lot, so I can still pluck them out with a tweezer). I don't want to increase the dosage, so I think I will switch back to the full herb instead of the extract to see if that helps. I was using a different brand of Fo ti that was not an extact before trying this brand, and I had an occasional gray hair with the previous product. The serving size of this product is much larger than of the product I was taking before, so I may not have been taking enough of the previous product. This product's pricing, however, is very competitive to the previous product. Since using this product for a month, I don't have any gray hairs, and I'm very pleased with the results.

After another person posted a Certificates of Analysis of MicroIngredient’s “100% Organic Sunflower Lecithin” showing that the product contains high amounts of maltodextrin and coconut oil, I decided that I better get COAs for all of the products from this company that I personally use. I requested the COAs for this item, and 4 other items. My first request received no response. My second request received a reply stating that I must provide all of my order numbers for the products in addition to all of the batch numbers. I stated that I did not want to waste my time looking up all of my order numbers, and that that information is/was completely unnecessary. I was told that they would not provide any COAs without order numbers. This was a big flag. So, I went along with their game, and I supplied all order numbers and all batch numbers. Again I received no response. I then followed up yet again, and was told that it is their “policy” to only provide 1 COA at a time. After 2 weeks of going back and forth via email, and being ignored and/or getting excuses, I was then provided a screenshot, of the top few lines of a report for 1 of the 5 items. I sent yet another email requesting the full reports for all 5 items. My request was again ignored. This company is hiding something. I don’t know what, but I would trust them. Personally, I will not order anything else from MicroIngredients, and if you care about your health and what you put inside your body, I suggest that you purchase from a company that does lie and/or not hide the truth about what they are selling to you.
