Girl from U.N.C.L.E., The: The Complete Series Part Two (4 Disc)

Continuing on from Girl from U.N.C.L.E .- Part 1 to Part 2!
Part 2 of Girl from U.N.C.L.E. is pretty much a continuation of the same type of storyline but with April Dancer having more sexy outfits on in the second half of the season. I think the showrunners were alarmed by the drop in their ratings and wanted to splice the show up. April Dancer got a little more action in her parts, was not always so smiley and cute in these later episodes. I think they were told that the show would be canceled during these final episodes. You can see that the guest stars were less desirable at the end. Sad to watch! I think they has a big hit if they follow Diana Riggs and Anne Francis but in the mid 1960s, ladies we’re to be protected and feminine still.

Camp like Batman
This is very much the original UNCLE show without the two male leads. Leo G. Carroll stars in the same role which makes sense as he is supposed to be working with multiple agents. Stefanie Powers from Hart to Hart stars and is always speaking in accents, dressing in outlandish costumes, and always capturing bit never killing the bad guys. It only lasted a season because of it's zany and campy nature which is like the 3rd season of its parent show. Robert Vaughn guest starred on one episode. Boris Karloff plays one of his most outstanding roles ever: Mother Muffin. This show aired 1966-67. There are no special features unfortunately.

Great nostalgia!
The "sister" companion show to the legendary The Man From U.N.C.L.E. series may lack some of the polish and chemistry between its leads compared to Napoleon and Illya in its "Five Star" "brother" series, but it is still fun and entertaining. Starring a pre-Hart to Hart, Stephanie Powers and Rex Harrison's son, Noel, with Leo G. Carroll appearing in each episode as UNCLE boss, Mr Waverly, The Girl from U.N.C.L.E. is a neat return to a time when life was a lot of fun.

A classic television companion series to the Man From U.N.C.L.E.....
Was very pleased to see this as I have always been a fan of the classic Man From U.N.C.L.E. television series of the mid 1960's. The only complaint that I have is that the series should have been offered in one set instead of splitting it in two because the series itself only lasted for one season. I suspect that this was done to be able to get more money from those of us who are interested in seeing the classic television shows of the '60's that are in many cases a far sight better than a lot of the trash that crosses our television screens presently....

STEFANIE POWERS,,, A SPY AFTER HOURS!!!
In The Girl From U.N.C.L.E. series, the beautiful and talented Stefanie Powers (Hart To Hart) plays the campy role of April Dancer with her usual charm and wit. It's an amusing series to watch, as long as you don't take the plots seriously; and you realize the stories are supposed to be loopy because it's a tongue-in-cheek spoof of the secret agent genre.(If this review was helpful in any way, please click on the "Helpful" key below, or write a comment. Video and Audio are not only superior to their original broadcasts (at least as I remember ...
I suppose by today's standards it would be considered a bit corny (do they still use that word in this context?), but the quality of the performances, as well as the production standards hold up well. Viewed as a sort of "period piece", it reflects American societal views and mores of the 1960s quite accurately. The quality of the product is also beyond reproach. Video and Audio are not only superior to their original broadcasts (at least as I remember them), but also superior to many "digitally remastered" vintage television programs available on DVD today.

Nostalgic
Not great acting but great memories growing up in the early James Bond era (aka Sean Connery) and secret agents running rampant on TV

GIRL FROM U.N.C.L.E ON DVD
THIS VIEWER WAS AROUND WHEN THIS ALMOST FORGOTTEN SERIES ORIGINALLY AIRED IN THE SIXTIES. WHILE IT SOON BECOMES APPARENT WHY IT LASTED ONLY ONE SEASON ,IT IS NOT WITHOUT IT'S APPEAL,NOT THE LEAST THE PRESENCE OF IT'S STAR ,THE VERY ATTRACTIVE AND CHARMING STEFANIE POWERS.ALSO OF NOTE ARE THE WIDE ASSORTMENT OF FAMILIAR ACTORS AND ACTRESSES OF THE PERIOD IN GUEST STARRING ROLES.SET WOULD HAVE BENEFITTED FROM BACKGROUND INFO OR PLOT SYNAPSIES FOR EACH EPISODE.AS IT IS,A VERY FINE ,NOSTALGIC TRIP TO A TIME LONG GONE

Not many people may know this but.....
Having access to multi-region DVD machines I was overjoyed to be able to buy this series on DVD at last. Unfortunately when the DVD set arrived I found it would not work in my main machine, which is a DVD recorder. On checking the small print on the back of the DVD box it seems that this item [and other similar sets I ordered recently] is not manufactured to play in either DVD recorders or on PC DVD drives - only on DVD players.Luckily I can still view the series on a regular DVD player but buyers beware if they perhaps rely on using their PCs to view their DVDs.Otherwise would highly recommend this set. Only removing one star because of the sheer hassle of not being able to use my 'main' machine to play it.

Second Thoughts!!
This review applies to Part One as well. about which I wrote a favourable review some time ago. I have now seen nearly all the eps on both DVDs, and whilst I feel sad and a bit mean writing the following, I do it in the spirit of helpfulness and honesty. First - the good part..The prints are all excellent. Every ep crystal clear, lovely colour and sound. Also Stephanie Powers has seldom looked lovlier, and the camera and director obviously love her, as do we all. But... After so much viewing, I have to say how disapointing the series as a whole has turned out. The plots are silly without being amusing, I mean very silly. The action scenes are terrible and most of every ep is filmed on indoor sets or obvious MGM backlots. For heavens sake they even have April Dancer losing fights, yelling for help, and being rescued by her partner Mark Slate! Ah, and that brings me to Noel Harrison!..Was there ever a more unlikely...Oh stop! I am sounding petty, but I was so looking forward to seeing this series again after so long, and after each episode I was getting more and more frustrated. OK, it's all a personal opinion, and many people will probably disagree, and love the series. I just felt I had to correct my initial enthusiam. If you fancy a go, just order 1 part first and see what you think. Good luck and hope more folk enjoy it
