No, there is another product from Herb Pharm, which is displayed & sold (for now) directly under this product. It looks similar, but does not have an added medicine bulb with attached glass dropper. It is described as "Herb Pharm Certified Organic Arnica Oil - 1 Ounce" cost $12.49 (again, at this posting) and part of the product description states: "The flowers are extracted and concentrated into cold-pressed certified organic olive oil." According to their website, that product has only Arnica montana flowers and organic olive oil as the ingredients. It states the flowers are "shade dried" and are "extracted by low heat into cold-pressed certified organic olive oil." This would be a preferred method of extraction (removal or taking out) to maintain the constituents of the flower without degrading or damaging their bioactive & therapeutic compounds with harsh chemicals. However, I cannot find what the ratio is of flower/herb to oil. This may be due to the fact the extract is part of the carrier oil and you would have to contact the company to find out what type of equipment (such as a mass spec) was used to determine the company's policy on how they grade and pass a batch to the consumer. The product which has this question re: if it has olive oil in it is no, it does not. To help answer some of the other replies to this question, I may can help. According to the Herb Pharm website and my (almost empty) bottle, this is Arnica Extract, just a different way of extracting the flower is used. In this product, it means the herb (in this case, the whole flower) has been (according to the website) hand-picked/harvested, shade dried, and then "thoroughly extracted." The extraction (or removal) process used here is through a solvent, "organic cane alcohol (66-76%)", the first listed ingredient, then "distilled water" (no percentage is given), and "Arnica extractives" (no percentage is listed, BUT there is a ratio). It states "dry herb/menstruum ratio 1:10" Menstruum is kind of an archaic term (but used widely in herbalism) meaning a solvent. A solvent is "a substance that dissolves a solid or holds it in suspension." Most of the time seeing the word "solvent" means it is considered a harsh chemical or substance which breaks down, dissolves, or diminishes the original medium. For example, paint thinner is a solvent. Not all solvents are bad, but can reduce or even partially destroy the efficacy and bioavailability of certain herbs, plants, and flowers- especially in supplements. One of the newer ways to extract almost all the constituents of many herbs is called super critical CO2 extraction. It sometimes cost more, but the beneficial parts are only degraded a fraction of what traditional solvents (such as alcohols) do. Therefore, you may pay more, but the medicinal effects you expect or have heard about are far superior. But buyer beware! Many herbs and plants and flowers MUST have a carrier or transport system in order for those medicinal results to be achieved. Please do a little research to find out- or you may just be taking a supplement which has scant to no effects because it is not being adsorbed properly. AND- there are dozens of ways which change the outcome of the end-product. Remember, any company can make any claim about supplements because they are not subject to strict FDA guidelines or laws in the US (in fact, they are to have a disclaimer to this effect). no. this is arnica herbal tincture. ( homeopathic arnica is made from this ).

the product picture shown seems indisnguishible from the ones in olive oil base, yet some people mention alcohol. which is it? (this needs more pics)

Is this a good product to make a salt scrub for the shower, or is it better to use pure essential oil of arnica?

Having never used salt scrubs, I'm not sure how the extract would compare with the oil for that purpose. I use the extract for bruises and muscle soreness.
