Vestax VCI-300MKII DJ Controller

I've been a DJ since 1994 and have been hoping for something like this to come that'll help me be more modular, reduce my equipment count and weight and still give me the fundamentals that I need in order to perform. This little gadget has met my every requirement in order to put away my technics turntables and put them into semi-retirement. The software that it comes with (Serato Itch), is from the same software manufacturer of Serato Scratch Live - pretty much the standard in DJ software in the U.S. The software is always being updated to better meet the needs and wants of professional DJ's and all the updates are available free of charge - just like in Scratch Live. It's a great piece of technology that would help the budding DJ get started on a budget and it's also a great add-on for the professionals that are either looking to downsize and/or add a backup system to their setup. There's tons of support from the Serato team for the Itch software and the construction on the deck itself is great. It has a great feel to it and transitioning from vinyl and/or cd's to DJ'ing using the VCI is so easy and feels natural, I'm starting to use it more than I use my turntables.

Build quality could have been built better

I bought this for my boyfriend as a gift. He was a successful DJ back in the day, recently he was invited to do a once a week show on a radio, and he does some great mixes with this. He loves it, he says it very easy to use, and the sport also is great. He had some question on the beginning and the vestax softwear costumer service were amazing.

I purchased this because i liked the scratch feature. Works nicely with serato itch but has a good and loud sound. However, many issues with the right deck started occurring. The most annoying issue has to be the mic issue. There's no way you can dj if your mic does't work properly. The issue is definitely with unsteady volume levels and feedback. Since it was under warranty I brought it to get fixed from a local repair company. They could't seem to get it fixed. This resulted in horrible feedback during performances. Now I'm currently having issues with the crossfader; It doesn't change cued decks even when pushed to complete opposite side.

I really like this Vestax controller as a beginner it was great for at home use to learn on and get more familiar with Serato. Unfortunately it's had to go through a few repairs over the years, without any damage from myself. The slot in the back for the USB power sank in and had to be sent off for repair. Twice now the job wheels have become unusable to wear a track will not even play in the corresponding Deck.With Vestax now out of business I would recommend purchasing something else if it's a similar price. But for the money, assuming it works fine and you take care of it, it is a great easy-to-use item.

very responsive and excellent for scratching and has good pitch control and faders/crossfader. Serato ITCH is simple and easy to learn. Great controller for the price, i just wish it came with built in effects

I love the thing. I've had it for forever now, and it's still kicking. I use it for gigs where gear isn't provided (wack clubs?), but also for home use. I've had this slight problem from the beginning where occasionally the play button will stop responding. This probably happens 1 and 3 times I use the VCI-300, but a simple restart of the program usually fixes it. Maybe it's just a thing with my unit.Highly recommended for what it is.

Very portable and functionable. Feels decent. Some of the knobs and sliders feel "stiff / cheap" for the price. its gets the job done and then some.
