Cat door
This seems like a good product. I have not installed it yet. I took it out of the package to check it out. This is intended for a smaller adult cat. If my cat were bigger, I'd go with the larger size. The price isn't much more and it gives room for growth.Overall, this is a quality product.

It should work, but the cat is a bit afraid of it
I would not say this was easy to install. It also was not super difficult, for us who are somewhat accomplished DIYers. However, while it claims to be for interior or exterior doors, it clearly is mainly intended for exterior doors. Our interior door that we were installing it in, was too shallow front to back, and the screws to attach the two halves went clear through. We had to take it off of the door and go buy shorter screws that would work. With the original screws in, the door would not even open and close because of jammed mechanicals inside of it.The cat it is intended for ways about 10 lb and is a little on the small side. The collar that you have to use -- because the magnet does not come off of it to transfer to another collar -- is not very adjustable: you have to kind of stretch it over their head and move it down their neck. The magnetic piece that makes the door unlatch is gigantic! For a poor little 8 to 10 lb cat, it is almost unimaginably large for them to wear this collar all the time. When they finally get down close enough with the magnet, to unlock the door flap, it makes a big disengaging "clunk" that scares the cat. Even when it has unlatched, now the cat is slightly afraid to go any closer, and definitely will not push with its head hard enough to open the door.We have had it up for over 2 weeks now, to give the cat a chance to get used to it. It's still not really working. We finally had to take the collar off and leave it as a door flap with no lock. We are hoping that the other cats will not realize that it is unlocked and they can go through too.

pretty good
This is the only one so far that my very determined kitty has not been able to push open while locked. However, there are 2 sets of different length screws and neither of them worked for my situation (wooden fence). The short ones were too short and the long ones punctured through the plastic on the front side without me knowing (until I saw the gap and started over) so I had to get my own screws. Also, my cat really doesn't like the in/out indicator since it pokes out at him as he's trying to get out. Lastly, it would've been better if the magnetic collar and tab would work going out and not just coming in. I have 3 cats and I only trust 1 out so it would've been nice to control that but at least you can turn that feature off completely

Easy installation. Well built
This cat door was exactly as advertised. Easy installation. Well built, quality good. The door shuts with no gaps. My cats learned to use it easily. The door is fairly loud when it shuts because it is sealing and closing flush with no gaps. This sound does not disturb my cats who have never used a cat door before. They especially like the clear flap, I see them looking through it to the outdoors before the go out.I am happy with this purchase!

not great for small dogs
I can't use the collars they give you, for my dog because when I go to attach a lease, the collar just stretches over his head. So I finally found a collar that doesn't stretch and a way to get the piece (that causes the door to open) on it. However, the collar turns so that it isn't hitting the door right, and it won't open. I found even when I moved the magnetic piece towards the door, it often wouldn't open.I can however just use it as a plain door with my dog able to go out but not in.

Save the money
It's crap, easy to install but it's options do not work.the collar doesn't work.the door has a tab that when a cat goes out the tab goes out, well then if the other cat also wants to go out it has to wait til 1 at car comes back cuz it self locks and the collars do not work.i ordered a dif collar it still won't work like it's suppose to.the cats will keep hitting the little door til we have to go open the entire door.i am waiting for another critter to come on into the house.fun fun keep ur money

Difficulty opening door
The magnet on the collar is heavy and large for a little cat. I replaced it with a smaller powerful rare earth magnet. Either way, the magnet has to be positioned correctly for it to trigger the mechanism. The cat still has to push the door open. This position of the magnet would not make a difference for us because or cat would not push the door open even with salmon on the other side. I was able to keep the mechanism open with a small rare earth magnet on the base. She will only use it when the door is propped fully open. Two weeks of training.I can see it would work for some cats who could push open the door. However, I would still be a little worried that the positioning of the magnet is important and the cat might need to make a few attempts.
