I purchase the Amazon Basics External Hard Drive Portable Carrying Case and I've got to say, it's been a game changer. The compact design makes it a breeze to tote around, yet it’s roomy enough to snugly fit my hard drive along with all the necessary cables. No more hassle of managing multiple pouches! What really stands out is its robustness. This case is built tough and has been a reliable shield against everyday bumps and knocks. While it’s sturdy and functional, the style aspect is a bit on the backseat. The aesthetic is basic and may not catch your eye at first glance. But, let’s be honest, it’s the protection it offers that really counts and on that front, it scores big time. All in all, if you are on the lookout for a reliable, practical, and affordable carrying case for your hard drive, this Amazon Basics case is a worthy contender. It may not win a beauty contest, but it surely will keep your data safe and sound. And at the end of the day, that’s what truly matters. I highly recommend this case. It's affordable and you'll be happy with this purchase as it really gives your hard drive the protection it needs.

Indispensable buy any time I get one of my 5 TB Western Digitals. It's really great: the exterior is solid but not inflexible, so it protects the drive, the interior has space for the drive and the connecting chord and the entire thing is compact and fits easily into my backpack.

Great to have if you don’t want to lose your hard drive at the bottom of your bag and possibly lose your hard drive. Portability is great, appearance is normal. Ease to use. Durability is great.

I use this for one external HDD, and one external SSD along, and one USB thumb drive, and one cable. Works great, the zipper works well.

Sturdy and well made with a good elastic strap to retain the drive when opening the case and elastic mesh pocket in the lid to hole cables. It is too soon to tell the durability, but it should be adequate for the life of a drive. However, a couple of things need attention: [1] This type of case is semi-rigid and not padded, so verses a padded soft case, shock cushioning will not be a good. However, the edges of the cases (most important for corner drops) is effectively padded by the tape and zipper, so drop shock in normal traveling should be OK. [2] As noted by others reviewers, the sizing descriptions are confusing with complicated and conflicting specifications for product size, interior size and maximum drive size for the two size selections. Frankly, Amazon should do better and put these dimensions in a simple table. That is how a human would do it, I cannot speak for Amazon's AI algorithm the wrote the confusing description. {HELLO! ARE YOU THERE?} So I bought the larger size, and I'm glad is did because anything smaller would not have worked for my drives and would have been returned. I found my largest portable drive, a thicker LaCie 5TB could barely fit but squeezing the sides it snaps in and overnight the case relaxed to shape to fit it. In contrast, by smallest portable drove, a old WD My Passport 320GB (yeah, that old but still working) could probably fit the small case but the larger works fine, so I recommend just to get the larger one and don't sweat the details. Great portable hard drive if needed more space.

As a video editor and cinematography, I fill a ton of hard drives that I often find myself needing to lug around and send out to clients. I looked at several different products that essentially work to add a little more protection to external hard drives, and after several tries, I finally kept this one. I had little luck with the silicon “skins” for the drives, due mostly to inconsistencies in where the holes were punched out for cords and the big variety of sizes that hard drives now come in. I then purchased a product similar to this but with a smoother texture on eBay for $2 less than this Amazon basics case. The eBay cases began to fall apart and were just generally of a worse quality, But these Amazon basics cases have been excellent, from the material to the quality of the zipper! The texture feels more sturdy, but not bulky. The two different types of netting/compartments in the case make it super convenient to hold both a drive and the cord, while at the same time make the case able to hold a huge variety of hard drives shapes/thicknesses, as they stay in place and secure. I’ve used these now with WD passports, Seagate backup Plus drives, an SSD and a few other branded external hard drives. These aren’t made to be shockproof, underwater, pelican-case protection mechanisms, but for those days when I need to take my hard drives with me, or in storage with archived drives on a shelf, these work to supply an extra layer between your drive and the things it touches, it feels sturdy but lightweight, and it keeps dust, crumbs, and sharp objects from your frive’s fragile cable ports. Spend the extra $2 and save the time. These are a must have for anyone using external hard drives.

Perfect, sturdy little case. Use it to protect a WD drive while travelling, and it's been fine. Taken a few knocks but WD has been fine.
