Can you premix it hours before use or will it go bad?

Yes, you can premix Tailwind hours before use (and even store it in the refrigerator for around 7 days). If you wanted to mix it up prior to an event, you can do that as well several hours beforehand.

Is there a caffeine free option?

Yep. All the Tailwind I purchased has been caffeine free. The caffeinated version is indicated below the flavor on the front of the package.

Hi Mask, Thanks for your question, it sounds like a question about making concentrates. Here’s a link to our website, and a blog post about making a concentrate: https://tailwindnutrition.blog/2019/04/08/tailwind-concentrate/ Basically it says “it’s OK to make a concentrate, but make sure you drink enough water,” and doesn’t give a specific recipe. One of the reasons for this is that the recipes will be quite different for mixtures that are shaken (during a run or ride), and mixtures that stand and are allowed to settle. It turns out that 8 hours of Tailwind, 3 scoops per hour, or 24 scoops, will fit in a 750 ml bike bottle (I used level scoops), but only after it’s mixed with water. The volume of Tailwind powder mixed in water is a lot less than the sum of the volume of Tailwind powder and the volume of water added to it. Hot water works better. Here’s a method for 8 hours of Tailwind concentrate in a 750 ml bike bottle: 1) Add 6 hours worth (18 level scoops) of Tailwind to a 750 ml water bottle 2) Add 200 ml of hot water (electric kettle works well here), and shake well. Notice the volume goes way down 3) Add 2 more hours worth (6 level scoops) of Tailwind 4) Add another 100 ml of hot water, and shake well 5) Notice there’s some room to spare … add another 80-90 ml hot water, whatever fits However, I might suggest a less concentrated formula, because in order to use this concentrate you’re going to need a second water bottle. So why not start with that second water bottle already mixed up? Some options for 8 hours on the bike: 1) Two water bottles: One bottle with one hour’s worth (3 scoops Tailwind, 720 ml water), one concentrate bottle with 7 more hours 2) Three water bottles: Two bottles with one hour’s worth (3 scoops Tailwind, 720 ml water), and one concentrate bottle with 6 more hours 3) Four water bottles: Three with Tailwind mixed up, on concentrate bottle with 5 more hours Remember that if you eat other food (sandwich, gels, bars, spaghetti carbonara, whatever) you should drink just water with it, as Tailwind and food together can be a little much for you stomach. It's not my first time using Tailwind, this is now my go-to powder for my running and triathlon races. Last month I finished an 11-hour 50-mile trail race in 70-degree warm weather, many other runners seemed to be suffering from dehydration and sugar deprivation, but not me thanks to constantly replenishing my bottle with a powder bag and water at the aid stations every 3.5-5 miles. I alternated this endurance powder with the Tailwind Recovery powder, as the seller had recommended, to get some protein (I like to have protein for ultra trail runs, which tend to be hilly, and for long triathlons). I never had any gut problems, as usual with Tailwind, despite consuming 11 pouches. Also felt energetic and well hydrated, while others (much younger than me, I am over 50) bonked.

This stuff is magic! After suffering with hydration issues for years ultra running in Hawaii where it's freakin' hot and brutally humid, this stuff has been a game changer. I tried Pedialyte, coconut water, my own salt/sugar mix, Skratch, and other and still had hydration issues. Now, I know that if I put 1.5-2 scoops in one hand held water bottle, and keep fresh water in another in my other hand, I'm good for 2 hours if I drink both bottles. I then supplement occasionally chugging a full bottle of water at an aid station, and eat whatever I feel like. Just ran my second HURT 100 race with this strategy and beat my previous time by almost 2 hours. I never had hydration issues. Never had cramping. Never was wondering if I was getting all the hydration and electrolytes I need. I prefer the unflavored. It actually has a light citrus flavor that never gets old. I've been using it for 4 or 5 years, and even if I experiment with other stuff, I quickly come back. It's the best. LOVE IT!
