Stromberg Carlson VGT-70-4000 4000 Louvered Tailgate for Toyota

Was a very simple 15 minute install. Love it on my truck.

I bought this because my previous one was ripped off (not my fault!) and I was using netting instead. After constantly losing things from under the netting, I broke down and ordered this one. It is awesome. It is much easier to open than my previous tailgate and is super lightweight. Plus it was cheaper! Unfortunately you can't stand on it but you couldn't stand on my other one either. The only issue with it is sometimes it doesn't close completely. It won't come open but sometimes I have to open it and jiggle it sideways to get it to seat properly. That may be a function of the installation (I took it to a truck accessory place).

Could not afford to get a higher priced tailgate but this Louvered Tailgate is great for the price and works just as good as the expensive ones.

Its a nice tail gate for the price. The edges could be a little more robust but for cost I guess I can not complain to much. Fits well and looks nice on truck.

Easy instillation even in the middle of the night with a flash light. There is a big gap at the bottom where the tailgate does not cover. Not sure why but the just didn't make it go all the way down and you can see the part of the bed where you insert the rod to lower the spare tire. Also they don't include new rubber stops to replace OEM ones on truck. When I close the tailgate the stops are about an inch to short even after I adjusted the latches.

It did not latch properly on a 2007 tundra.

Fit great easy install. The only con to this is the weight limit. If the ends that actually attach to the pins in the bed of truck were built with heavier guage steel and some steel bracing was added during the injection molding process of the plastic part it would probly have a better weight limit than 100lbs. But it is the best alternative to either buying a cheap repop tailgate that probly wont fit that great and get it painted for 500 bucks or find a used one thats right color (good luck) 650bucks or buy a genuine toyota tailgate pre painted 1100 bucks

Fits okay for the price. This appears to be just molded plastic though. The side caps didn't fit well, I had to drill extra holes. The cables could be slightly thinner to go over the stock bolts. Mine came damage, poor packaging... See photos
