So I figured instead of using the 3.5mm connector to pipe my audio through why not get this and use USB audio and convert it to clean Optical - and it works perfectly plug and play with my phone/tablet and my Steam Deck and on PS5 you just have to use the front USB C port switch to the SPDIF converter (oddly enough not the DAC) and it works and sounds fantastic! No bluetooth either which means no audio lag or loss of quality. So this converting USB audio to clean Optical via a DAC/Amp combo using Quobuz bit perfect mode or desertcart Music Ultra HD tracks wow! Movies sound fantastic too. As do games. Delighted with this product. It was simple to physically connect, and because it requires no drivers it worked with no setup issues. I tested it with VLC playing films with both AC3 (Dolby Digital) and DTS soundtracks and it worked correctly.
