Most squirrels can't navigate this thing.
Try not to put a baffle under the support pole--it just becomes a better perch for squirrels. This is a wonderful feeder because it holds a lot of seed and holds up pretty well under the elements. I had to replace my last one due to the fact that the plexiglass window on one side shattered from being out in the elements for so long.

Best squirrel proof feeder. Great quality!
Truly the absolute best bird feeder you can buy.Very good quality. Strong, well built and sturdy. An it really is squirrel proof. We have purchased a few over the years as we always leave the feeder behind when we sell our home. We live in Florida and our birds are very happy.

Excellent feeders and the pole works well
I bought two of these for my house, one for the backyard and one for the front yard. They replaced an old tray feeder that the squirrels just ravaged. Although it took some time, they are both popular with the birds. As I write this, a goldfinch is eating from the one in front.I installed both on the provided poles, which are plenty sturdy. I was worried at the beginning because they were real wobbly when I put them up, but they've been steady through rain and wind. One blew over, but that was my fault for not digging the hole deep enough (my soil is really hard and I only have a shovel). Since putting it back in place and getting the anchor in a little deeper, it's been nice and steady. For those worrying about the squirrels, don't. The safety mechanism is very effective. The squirrels can get on to the one in the front, but they cannot get into the food. I remember some reviews where they said they did. You have to remember this one thing when putting them up: they can't be near an object that a squirrel can hang from. If you do that, the squirrels will not get the food, and you'll be entertained by squirrel fails.Lastly, no issues with birds getting trapped. Maybe that was an old model, but I haven't woken up to any birds dangling from any point on my feeders.A month or two in, I'm very pleased with my purchase and would recommend them to people who want to get birds in and keep squirrels out.

Decent feeder
The feeder is sturdy and should last quite some time. The adjustable perches help to control which birds are allowed to feed. I addressed the issues of sharp edges others mentioned by apply silicone at the pinch points that may harm birds. Feeder holds a lot of seeds and has worked well the several months I've owned it. Bought one for my aunt who also deals with squirrels. The pole that comes with this feeder is mediocre at best. It's flimsy and too short in my opinion. I purchased a separate pole to use with this feeder. The new pole was a perfect fit.

Love this bird feeder
This is a great bird feeder. It holds a lot. The birds love it. I can change the setting on the bar so heavier birds and squirrels can’t get into it. No more redwing blackbirds eating all the songbird food. Birds can feed from both sides. Looks great too.

Best feeder ever!
The media could not be loaded. Awesome feeder! Not only does it keep the squirrels at bay (see video below), but it controls the usual mess of birds flinging seeds around.

Adjustable perch springs are great for squirrels and keeping away large pest birds!
First off, this is our third year with this feeder. We like it so much that we purchased a second one. This bird feeder is great. It has two spring loaded perches that close when too much weight is placed upon them. This works to keep out squirrels and can also be set to keep out crows and grackles. The finish appears to be a baked on powder coat and has held up great. It is also fun to watch when too many birds land on the perch and it closes. Some of the birds will hold on and 'hover' to try to keep the feeder open! This doesn't work for crows, as the perch is close enough to the feeder that they can't seem to hold onto it.Also, this feeder holds a TON of seed. We don't fill it completely as it takes weeks for birds to empty it and we don't want to risk the seed going rancid. Note we use only a single type of seed in each feeder and you should consider it too - if you put in mixed seed the birds will throw the seed they don't want onto the ground to get at their preferred seed. If you are OK with this, the large hopper comes in handy.Note that this feeder is NOT raccoon proof! Those buggers are pretty smart - they figure out how to hold onto the pole and rake the food out. When we set the springs really light, they tried to chew through the metal, scraping off some of the paint! Even though this happened over a year ago, the feeder hasn't rusted nor has any additional paint peeled off. Ultimately, installing a bell type critter guard did the trick and kept them out.Bottom line: Pricey, but holds up and keeps (most) unwanted pests out!

Outsmarted the squirrels!
Well so far, so good. This bird feeder is feeding only the birds. It’s been in the yard for about two months. The squirrels have made a couple of runs at it but the just can’t get to the seeds. I’ve watched them fall off it a few times and try to work in teams to outwit it but no luck. The birds are digging it! We have seen so many more birds with this feeder than we ever saw with the old feeders. It’s been a pleasure to enjoy the birds. The feeder holds a large amount of seeds and it’s nice that I don’t have to fill the feeder almost daily as I did with the standard feeders. As a matter of fact I haven’t had to refill it yet so that’s a big savings in bird seed which has gotten quite pricey. If you love birds but don’t like squirrels stealing their food I highly recommend this feeder. I did not use the pole that came with it. I attached a section of that pole with gorilla glue and inserted it into a galvanized pipe that is anchored with cement in the ground. This is secure and the squirrels can’t topple it.
