Amazing blend of oral tales, history and fiction
The book blends oral tales, history, and fiction together to provide the hispanos and Chicanos of Mora, New Mexico a history and preserves culture. The form is an interesting collection of vignettes that make up the novel. Many of these short vignettes may be amusing or sad, but all interconnect and build upon recreating the book of archives, the records of the town destroyed by American cannons during the attack on Mora during the Taos rebellion. Identity, color, history and the effect of technology all come together in this book.

Fabulous book
This is a great book by an author that can really write. I loved that I could read it in 2 languages. I lived in a village close to Mora (the story this book is about) and loved reading the history in such a literate and interesting writing style.Anyone interesting in reading about the west- its' history and culturtes will find this book interesting.

A small amount of history of the Mora area in a lyrical presentation.
I guess I just missed the reason for the book. It was lyrical, and very poetic in parts, but lots of repetition. And not much historic importance.
