The Oregon Trail: Sketches of Prairie and Rocky-Mountain Life

Don't be misled by the title (as I was). These are WRITTEN sketches. There are but four illustrations in the book (but these are Remington sketches). One little annoyance is the crop of typos throughout the book. To give an example "....one furious s^cr^ enfant de gai'ce! a Canadian title of honour, made doubly emphatic by being usually ajiplied together with a cut of the wliip to refractory mules and horses". if you can put up with these, then the book makes for a very interesting read
