Instant Relief and Invisible Protection: Bactine MAX Liquid Bandage
TLDR; A fantastic 2-in-1 product that combines the maximum OTC pain relief of 4% Lidocaine with an antiseptic liquid bandage. It’s perfect for hard-to-cover small cuts, scrapes, and abrasions, providing invisible, flexible, and water-resistant protection with zero traditional "ouch." A must-have for the first-aid kit, especially for children or joints. I’ve always kept Bactine around for its "no-sting" reputation, but dealing with bandaids on knuckles and fingertips is a constant battle. I bought the Bactine MAX Liquid Bandage because it promises to combine pain relief and germ-killing antiseptic with the protection of a liquid bandage. The brush-on application looked like the perfect solution for minor wounds in tricky, high-movement areas. I'm happy to report that this product is a game-changer, especially compared to the stinging of traditional liquid bandages. Detailing the Experience and Analysis This liquid bandage is genuinely excellent for minor skin injuries like small cuts, shallow scrapes, and hangnails. The 4% Lidocaine provides noticeable, quick-acting pain relief, often before the liquid dries. The formula feels gentle compared to the sharp sting of other liquid bandages. The brush applicator is precise and allows you to cover just the right amount of skin. The liquid dries quickly into a clear, flexible film that moves with your skin, which is crucial for joints like knuckles and elbows. It holds up well to washing hands and minor moisture, though repeated, prolonged exposure will cause it to peel (which is expected of this type of product). It's also great for sealing paper cuts and skin tears on the feet/heels. The product contains an antiseptic (Benzalkonium Chloride) to kill 99.9% of germs, addressing both wound protection and infection prevention in one step. This eliminates the need for separate antiseptic wipes and traditional bandages for most minor wounds. For deep cuts or wounds that require actual pressure, a traditional bandage is still necessary, but for everyday scrapes, this is my new go-to. Pros Maximum Strength Lidocaine (4%): Provides immediate and noticeable pain relief upon application. Antiseptic Protection: Kills 99.9% of germs to help prevent infection. No Stinging/Burning: Does not have the painful sting associated with many other liquid bandages. Flexible and Water-Resistant: Dries clear and moves with skin, ideal for fingers, knuckles, and joints. Easy-to-Use Brush: Allows for precise application to hard-to-cover areas. Cons Thin Coverage: May require a second coat for a robust seal on slightly deeper scrapes. Not for Deep Wounds: As with all liquid bandages, it is only for minor cuts and scrapes, not deep punctures or large, bleeding wounds. Verdict The Bactine MAX Liquid Bandage with Lidocaine is a 5-star essential for any home or travel first-aid kit. It successfully delivers on its three promises: pain relief, germ-killing, and flexible protection, all without the painful sting. For minor cuts and scrapes, especially on hard-to-bandage areas, this product is far superior to a sticky, bulky adhesive bandage and is absolutely worth the price.

Fast acting pain relief bandage
This is the first time I bought this product. I had an area on my thumb that split open, a common occurrence for me in wintertime. A regular bandage wouldn’t fit nor stay on. The Bactine Max liquid bandage healed it quickly and the Lidocaine took away the pain. This will be a regular part of my first aid kit.

Works good
Seems like more product than I thought at first. The jar is larger, and inside it was a little foaming so hard to tell what the liquid level was at. Directions say to shake well, but I suspect the foam was just from shipping since I used it shortly after it arrived. Shook well just for good measure but still just as foamy. Anyhow seems easy enough to apply. I used it on a face cut that was being held together for the first couple days with a smaller butterfly type bandage. This was upper cheek Edgar if eye socket, and the bandage pulled in an odd way around the eye that was judt enough to be annoying and would get caught with the occasional itch in the area. So the 2nd day, cleaned up well, and there seemed to be already a joining of the layers from the bandage pushing things together for a bit. I didn’t have to dab on much, and the liquid filled the cut area and surrounding area well. Reading the directions, I placed a second layer on since some areas were a little deeper. Directs also that this can be applied 3 times a day. As it is now, holding together a cut now that took a good couple hours to stop seeping a little blood before. Pretty confident this could have been used for the initial fix, but I would have added the security if a bandage to pull things together while the glue set. No pain that others have mentioned but this was after a full day so the wound was no longer super sensitive or wet and that could have made the difference perhaps.

Doesn't sting as badly as some of the others
It still stings some. I will go back to using super glue instead. I don't feel super glue stings as badly.

Great stuff
I tend to get a lot of paper cuts at work, and cat scratch battle scars at home from a feisty guy who loves to stab people with his toenail weaponry. I decided to give this stuff a shot instead of awkwardly trying to put bandaids over long scratches. I'm pleased with the results. Beats going through multiple bandaids to cover one scratch, and it has the added bonus of cleaning and helping with healing the actual wound. Gonna keep this stuff in the medicine cabinet from now on.

Seals germs...on both sides!
I'm probably going to toss this out. Every time i have used it, after thorough cleaning of the wound (small, shallow puncture wounds) it seems it has actually facilitated an infection, and at the very least, prevented proper healing. It says it seals out germs, so i guess it seals them in, too. Just go with a good adhesive bandage and you'll be better off.

Does not dry, does not cover, does not stay on your skin.
Did amazon get a fake product? Like other reviewers I found this "liquid bandage" to be lacking in providing its basic functions. It's like Elmer's on your skin. Actually I think Elmer's would work better. This stuff simply does not dry at all. According to the label it raised all the hopes for a one and done cover for small wounds. It provided none of it. The cover is non existent, since it doesn't dry. It will get removed completely if you put on vinyl gloves to be able to use your hand if you put it on there. It is not water proof and will wash off faster than Elmer's. I can't speak to any germ fighting or pain reducing experienced. Since it doesn't stay on and doesn't dry I had to put on a bandaid anyway and would be better off putting some Neosporin with Lidocaine on before that. I was thinking how many stars that product would deserve and it shouldn't even get one. It's a complete and utter failure.
