Snap Studio Portable Vocal Booth XL, Reduces Echo for Voice Over & Podcasts

I've been using the SnapStudio Ultimate Vocal Booth for my home studio recordings, and here's what I think: Pros: Sound Isolation: The vocal booth does an excellent job of reducing echo and external noise. My recordings have a much cleaner sound, which is perfect for vocals and voiceovers. I love the fact there is not only a top but also a bottom to the booth, clearly limiting as much echo as it can for the cost. Portability: It's genuinely portable and easy to set up. I can move it around my home studio or even take it to different locations without much hassle. The included bag is also a great addition and makes the setup and takedown a seamless process. Build Quality: The materials used are high-quality and durable. The booth feels sturdy and well-constructed, which is reassuring for frequent use. The thickness of the cloth is also great, allowing for ample sound dampening for recordings. Cons: Size: While it's portable, it’s still quite large when set up. It takes up a significant amount of space, so make sure you have enough room in your recording area. Obviously if you are looking for a booth, the hope is that you have some revenue being made already, so don't buy this unless you are serious about improving your craft. Ventilation: The booth can get a bit stuffy during long recording sessions. There's not much ventilation, so it can get warm inside. Maybe it is due to my small LED light I have hooked up inside, but LEDs are known to produce minimal heat, so I think it truly is just the booth doing its job of keeping what's inside...in, and outside....out. Price: It's a bit pricey for what it offers. While the quality is there, it might be a substantial investment for those just starting out or on a tight budget. Worth the price in my opinion, but that is up to you. Overall, the SnapStudio Ultimate Vocal Booth is a great addition to any home studio setup if you're looking for effective sound isolation and portability. TLDR: great product, highly recommend! For anyone who feels like reading: I’m a relatively new music artist and bought this to try and combat some sound quality issues I experienced recording in an open room. I was able to test it out and found a lot to like about it. Seriously considering one of these? Here’s the scoop: I love the XL’s size. I’m a bigger guy, so I wouldn’t have cared if the booth was 50x50 instead of 44x44, but I and my mic & pc fit in the booth with room to spare so I’m grateful for that. The sound dampening technology that lead you to want to buy something like this is very effective! I set this up for testing in my basement, where the acoustics are more than fine but there is an old hvac system nearby. The sounds of the hvac system were certainly muffled in the booth and did not actually come through on my microphone. I have a very sensitive mic and excellent headphones for monitoring. If any unwanted sound was coming through, I’d know. HOWEVER: if you’re new to recording or don’t understand recording/ sound technology all that well, please understand: the purpose of this product is not to get rid of ALL the sounds around you, but rather to take them down a notch, and eliminate any ambient echo and reverb your room’s acoustics may cause. THAT SAID, go set this booth up in a quiet room with decent acoustics, record your music or talk show, and revel in the compliments you get from friends, who will all be asking how many thousands you spent to rent a professional studio. Setup: I won’t lie to you, moving, setting up, and tearing down can be a pain. But it’s a lot harder to transport an entire music studio! Lol. Yes, this is portable, but it’s portable like TVs were in the 1950s—transportable at a basic level, but not necessarily easy to move. Even when stored in the duffles, this booth is bound to occupy a decent amount of space—half or more of the average coat closet, give or take, and each bag is a size and weight hefty enough to make them slightly awkward. I theorize that we’re in the infancy of portable sound dampening recording rooms, and as time goes on, they’ll get bigger, better, and lighter in weight. For now, this is what we’ve got, but I assure you, when properly used, this is an excellent product and worth the hassle. There were some complaints about the quality of the lights and phone holder in other reviews. Are they construction grade? No, but what are you all doing that is testing their quality so rigorously?I’ve found them all to be effective, and the one set of led lights changes colors, a real mood-setter for dedicated musicians like me. It won’t be long before this brand has the market cornered, if they don’t already. What would make me buy another one of these, should there be another generation/ iteration of this product? I’d love to see sound dampening technology become light in weight. The sound blankets that came with my sound booth are excellent and work well, but they are a bit heavy. I understand they need to be, in order to serve their purpose, so I don’t discredit the manufacturer, but I hope there comes to be an innovation that eliminates this problem. I also think a way of working a microphone mount into the infrastructure of the sound booth could be a great innovation for the next generation of this product. Finally, I was a bit sticker-shocked and ended up asking for gift cards for Christmas to help pay for this sound booth. However, the $300 models from imitators are getting horrid reviews, and I think this company’s just not moving enough volume yet to scale and get production costs down. Also, I don’t know what the material costs are, and the materials this company uses are extremely high quality. I think $579 for the XL may have been a sweet spot, for me at least. Nonetheless, I do own one, so price must not have been that big a point of contention… Overall, yes, this costed $700. I paid that, tried the product, and I am exceptionally impressed by the quality, effectiveness, and attention to detail. If you buy one and get started on the wrong foot, don’t just ship it back, try it first. REALLY try it. You’ll end up keeping it. And in doing so, you’ll have supported a small business.

I needed an inexpensive, portable solution for preventing sound reflections (echo, reverb) that typically occurs in a space that isn't acoustically treated. I could have DIY'd my own solution using PVC and sound absorbing blankets, but didn't have the time for that kind of project. This booth delivers the same results at only a slightly higher cost than DIY. When I first opened the box, I was skeptical: the "sound absorbing blankets" felt as thin as a moving blanket. Then, I realized that I had opened the box FROM THE BOTTOM. That's where they put the floor and ceiling blankets which require less sound absorption. The actual sound absorption blankets are quite thick and heavy. Assembly took me about 30 minutes (though will be shorter next time, now that I know what I'm doing) and in no time, I had my condenser mic and portable recorder set up in the booth using. The difference is astounding. Zero reflections no matter how loud I speak. Best of all, I can take this with me when I travel, so I can work on the road. I would have preferred slightly larger dimensions - the unit is only 33 inches square - but with some creativity, I'm able to set up my condenser mic with shock mount on a floor stand, tablet on the included device mount and my portable recorder on a small tripod. I see no reason to upgrade the ceiling and floor blankets but if it every becomes an issue, they're easy enough to find. I've seen other reviewers complain that they can "still hear things outside the booth." This is NOT a soundproof booth. Even DIY soundproof booths are VERY expensive and are almost certainly not portable. If you are expecting a completely soundproof environment, this is not what you need. Very satisfied with my purchase.

i have been using this for four years in my office to record my part on one of the top family podcasts in the world. 700 episodes later, I can say that this booth effectively replicates a studio environment in any space. It's easy to set up and move, the sound dampening is incredible and rich, and it's very sturdy. There's room inside for a mic stand + tablet, one person, and I've added a small wireless fan that I run on the lowest setting to help with ventilation on the hottest summer days. A+ product that has saved me untold amounts of time and money by not having to rent a studio several times a month for the last 4 years.

I think it's a pretty good purchase it does the job some of you don't know what the job is and it's just to help with reflections in the room it's not for like outside noises or anything like that. I say it's fairly large and I'm a big guy I'm 6'3 I will say that because I'm so big and my microphone stand has to be around my size as well I had to really change my room to give myself more space while recording. Be careful if you're using a shorter XLR cord because that can get in your way and if you're knocking that all the time that's going to get in your recording and mess up everything. My biggest caution is honestly just be careful when you're setting it up it is fairly simple but at least the instructions didn't explain how to take the rings apart you're supposed to push them out then pull I ended up slicing my finger pretty badly trying to figure that out but for the most part it's fairly simple to set up. I wouldn't worry too much about the size you don't really need the Xl version unless you're way bigger than me and have a way bigger space because I'm able to fit and be comfortable I just had to change my room of a lot I wouldn't change worth $500 I think 400 would have been a better price but for the most part I'm happy

The blanket type pieces are very heavy and great to dampen noise however it does not block sound from your kids, cats, or dogs. It can get very hot very quickly when inside of it so unless you have a fan in it you would need to keep the flap open a little bit on it. I ended up having to pack it up and put it away because cats did not stay off the top which they fell inside it. It is difficult to put together so once it is together don't think you are going to move it. Build it where you want it and make sure you have space to get on the sides of it wherever you build it at as again you are not going to move it easily. It is very heavy. I wish I could have kept it up again not great if you have cats just because they do not know how to stay off of things. Overall, I do recommend this product.

I just set up my booth today and I’m honestly impressed. It took me about an hour to put it together—didn’t feel long at all—and I’m certain anyone taller than me (or with an extra pair of hands) could get it done in under 30 minutes. The instructions were super easy to follow. One of the two included hanging lights didn’t work, but that’s not enough for me to speak poorly on what might end up being a really great product. Everything else feels solid and thoughtfully designed. (Update: 20251212- after charging the lights overnight, they work perfectly well) My favorite part? The personalized thank you card and the bright red envelope with the instructions. That small gesture really made the experience feel intentional and cared for. I’m not sure yet if the pricing is spot-on until I do a full sound check, but right now I’m SO excited to finally have a creative space of my own. This booth already looks like it’s going to elevate my recording setup in a big way.

I LOVE my booth. As a professional VO actor I use it for Auditioning and for professional recording sessions constantly, and it has been fantastic for delivering clean, crisp vocals and removing any echo. I'd honesty consider upgrading to the larger one for more space in the booth - especially for remote sessions when I have my laptop in the booth. But externally this size is great for our space, fitting perfectly into the studio. Customer service at Snap Studio is also excellent! I had a spillage in my booth and my washing machine chewed up the curtain a little - compromising it for hanging (it is machine washable on cold only - I think I got super unlucky). However, I reached out to Snap Studio and they took great care of me, even though I purchased from Amazon originally. Instead they sent me back up curtains and a floor mat free of charge, when they absolutely could have and probably should have charged me for that!

Solo funciona para detener el eco de una habitacion, no esta insonorizada, asi que funciona muy bien para lo que esta hecha, aunque la calidad es normal, la luz que incluyen es un foco led exrtaño que lastima y alumbra, pero tiembla mucho, consegui unas lamparas led que funcionan mejor y las remplaze, el cuerpo es de pvc y es solido en color negro, la tela es puro algodon, pero hay residuos de algodon en la tela, tuve que limpiarlo con recoge pelusas, fuera de eso funciona exactamente como se anuncia, el stand es bueno y cabe mi ipad y mi iphone, deberia tener un hoyo donde pasar los cables del microfono, aun asi esta bien.

Does what it says on the tin. The difference was evident when I ran a meter inside it showing around a 4db drop in general volume compared to outside the booth but importantly for me is the proof in the pudding -Aswell as blocking problematic room reverberations it completely removes the general background soup of noise of distant traffic etc, allowing me to record at much higher gain and get a cleaner and more dynamic take from a Rode condenser mic that was otherwise not really useable in this room. Its not going to save the day if the neighbours dogs start barking, or a car alarm goes off mid take, but its not claiming to do that. Mine did arrive with an incorrect component but Snap were amazing and sent me a replacement part by courier immediately along with a little freebie for my troubles, probably the best 'mistake' response ive had from an online seller. Its super easy to erect and collapse too

I had previously wasted money trying to sound treat my room and even making a DIY project of this. It wasnt worth it at the end of the day, wasted almost a thousand or more. For less quality than this product. They make it so easy to carry all things considered. I had 2 duffel bags one with heavy pvc and the other with sound foam. It was hectic to do move around with and ultimately fell apart. This product is a slight workout to set up giving that the blankets are weight but everything was great when I installed it on my own. Be careful to not scratch the pipes with the metal hooks they give you. Tbh thats the one thing I'd leave as a review for this company, the metal rods can scratch the pipes when installing, other than that its so worth it to just buy this and have everything handled for you. They even send the product with a printed guide for setting everything up. The shipping was great although a little dusty but everything came in properly. Highly recommend. Note, use this in a cool area it can get really sweaty while setting it up or inside the booth. Edit: Still a great product for removing echoes and getting clean vocals, just one main flaw. The bands needed to keep the upper area holding is a design issue and product issue. It bends the holding side and makes it difficult to set up and or take down. Its still doable ofc and doesnt heavily distort but u will notice that two parallel sides will be bent/un even. Im sensing it will probably be the first thing to fail if ever but the product build other than that its still a great product HIGHLY recommend.

Isole moyennement bien mais le rendu est largement acceptable. Si vous avez des voisins ils entendront les bribes d’une conversation de fond (à condition de pas faire de hard rock à 4h du matin 😅). Excellente qualité sonore à l’intérieur c’est parfait, pas muddy horrible comme les « box » à micro d’inconnues, c’est parfait franchement. Les puristes diront peut être du mal du rendu audio mais l’auditeur moyen n’entendra aucunement la différence par rapport à un studio pro avec un bon EQ. Sinon l’intérieur est agréable est spacieux. J’ai la place d’ajouter ma grand tige de micro ainsi qu’une petite table surélevée pour mettre le pc portable et m’enregistrer. Des mois que je l’utilise est c’est niquel franchement. Mais si vous cherchez une isolation max allez vers des modèles + onéreux ou bien en vrai studio.

Before you get started, yes, you COULD build something similar yourself. Yes, you COULD do all the PVC framing and buy some acoustic blankets to butcher up to hang on it. But really, after doing the math, it was worth getting this prefab system that is made to be portable and easy to assemble and disassemble. If I need to move this to a different room later, I'm not ripping it all apart only to reattach it all in an annoyingly long montage later. Frame is light, solid, and durable. Blankets are fantastic quality, already grommeted, and well fitted to the size of the frame. There are hooks already in place. Everything is just easy. This isn't intended to be soundproof. This functions as sound treatment for your room, not as a cure all for a noisy neighborhood. Reviewers who were expecting otherwise misunderstood the intention of this design. I'm looking forward to being to do any voice over that is louder than polite indoor speaking volume without the terrible metallic reflections from my walls and corners. A word of warning: yes it gets hot in there. Take regular water and stretch breaks. This materials do have a "new" smell but it's minimal (I've experienced far worse fumes from foam tiles).
