Basher Science: Human Body

The book itself is good. I like the simple explanations and how it is organized. I wish the drawings were a little less comical and more scientific. In my specific copy, two of the pages had been glued together. I guess that's what I get for purchasing a used copy.

My son is a voracious reader. We got him 7 of the Basher Science books for his 8th birthday in late March. He had finished them all by the end of April and has picked them back up again to reread. (2nd grade, reading at a U-level) He won't touch a fiction book unless forced, but if it is about science or technology he can't put it down. Just enough pictures to keep him from feeling intimidated by the text, perfect silliness level to keep him engaged, and more real science facts than he could absorb the first time through.

This entire series is absolutely amazing! I have a three and five year old who love looking through the pictures on their own. With the five year old, I read some of the actual text and with the three year old I just talk about the main ideas. I would say that the independent reading level is really geared for a 4th-8th grade level. This is a great way to introduce younger kids to higher level concepts in a fun and entertaining way. The illustrations are too cute, each definition is limited to one page and written in a personified and humorous voice. I am currently trying to collect every single book in this series.

I came across one of the books in this series in the gift shop at the Franklin Museum and thought it would be great for my son who just started college. He has some tough classes that require a lot of memorization and these books are perfect for that... takes tough topics and breaks them down into terms easier to understand. They have great visuals too. Ended up buying 3 of them "The Period Table", "Chemistry" and "The Human Body". His study partner loved them and I bought a set for her too. Great books!

In my view, this book is well layed out with nice pictures and explanations that are not too long and provide just the right amount of information. My six year old son asked for this book and we are reading it one chapter a night. He has a lot of questions about the meaning of some words, but he still seems interested. He also asked for the Basher Science Biology book. I have a feeling we will collect many if not all books from the series.

I started buying these books for my son when he was 4 years old, the first one was the Periodic Table and within months he knew every single element and it's properties. I then got him the Biology and Physics books and he talks about Entropy and Schrodinger's Cat like an expert. Both me and my son are ADD and struggle with reading comprehension, but the pictures and the characters in these books make it so easy for him to retain what he is reading. He is now 6 years old and on his way to being a total science nerd like his Mommy.

My 9 year old son was excited and read the book almost in one sitting! Great book!

Great educational series of books. Kids will love them. Worth every penny...

My 8 year old son has a number of the books in this series now and he absolutley loves them. He dips in and out when the mood takes him or a topic is discussed at school.Very well written for this age group as the descriptions seem to stick in their heads.

Fabulous. Written in a fun way, this is a great 'educative summary'. Be prepared though that this is more of a fun, breezy summary to recollect key concepts and presupposes that the detailed knowledge has been gained from 'boring texts'.Wonderfully written and lovely cartoons.
