Love the book, hate the shipping damage
Love the book lots of pictures and Info. on the early cars that I haven't seen before. The only complaint I have is with Amazon shipping. They shipped a 40.00 book in a bubble envelope with no other protection. It is then tossed around of course during shipping and handling and the end results are damaged corners of the pages! Amazon really needs to address the packing of its books to prevent this kind of senseless damage.

Great Funny Car history
Early Funny Cars by Lou Hart is an excellent read. The author clearly has done a lot of research and has a passion for the sport as do I. And this really is a history of tech revolution in the history of Funny Cars from 1964-1975. It’s hard to say that this is one of Cartech’s better books because frankly, they are all good, but it’s sure up there. This one I especially enjoyed. One of the things that makes this book so interesting are the photos assembled by Mr. Hart. In addition, there is a full explanation of what you are seeing in the photos, which is really neat.Quoting from the back cover: The sport became so popular “By 1969, the NHRA had no choice but to create a class for these nitro-breathing, flip-top-sporting rail bruisers, indoctrinating the funny car class at the winter nationals with 40 cars vying for 16 places in the field. the rest as they say is history.” During the 60s, 70s, and 80s I went to a lot of drag races, and I have seen the development of the Funny Cars over the years, so for me this book is a wonderful trip down memory lane. And , I’m sure in a few months, I will pull it out and read it again!

Mind Blowing Fun at the Strip
Another smasher from The Car Tech folks with Lou Hart compiling this gem. Those of us who grew up with Funny Cars and those curious or fans today will be blown away with this entry. Jammed packed with every imaginable photo as well as all the background info you could ask for. Funny Cars made their niche in auto racing down the quarter mile strip that had been dominated by the dragsters. But everyone who drove their own street version of what they saw on the strip made it even more mind blowing. Many of the names and machines featured here I well remember at my own home strip, "Great Lakes Dragaway." The fun is endless here to go through the pics and stories that seem so long ago but still only yesterday in the thrill cycle. Definitely a great addition to your car collection lore and one that will stand out at the finish line.
