SUMK 2021 Model 3 Cabin Air Filter Replacement with Activated Carbon Compatible with Tesla Model 3 2021 (black)

Took a bit less than 3 minutes to install, and it worked fine until I took the car to the car wash. You can see the reason in the attached photos. Basically the water will completely clog this filter and your A/C will not be able to suck any air in from the outside.I am now realizing this filter is a bad idea. It may work temporarily if you park your car in an underground garage 100% of the time. There's a reason Tesla does not filter at that location. If you live in a place where it rains, or you park your car outside under trees, this filter is not for you.If you got it wet and you plan to continue using this filter, I highly recommend you dry this in the sun to allow UV light to sanitize the filter. In my case I do not plan to use this filter because my neighborhood is full of trees so this filter will clog with dust, pollen and leaves within a week.

Fits very well and does what you expect. The filter fits perfectly with the specially cut slots made in it. And helps add to the filtering of the model3, I anticipate this helping with my allergies.Edit - everything was great until it got wet, then it blocked all air from coming into the cabin. Beware of it getting wet from rain or a car wash.

Product could not be any better. But despite videos making installation seem easy, This will be a very difficult installation for most people. I was ultimately successful but resolved afterward to never do this job again. Space, lighting and many items packed into a small area made this a real challenge for me. I almost had to be a contortionist to get into position to get a good view of the work area. I moved the passenger seat full back and lowered the seat back to full recline. Then I put my legs over the seat back. Never again. But in full fairness, I must disclose that I am 78 years old (but in good enough shape to rotate my own tires).

You save $9 by buying these instead of OEM from Tesla (which you can buy right off of Tesla’s website). They are noticeably of lower quality and although when you order they say “yellow” the filters I received were not yellow. The filters that came out of the Tesla were yellow. Not sure if it matters or not. Going forward I will spend the extra $9 and buy from Tesla.Very easy to install, but be sure to get a flexible screw driver tool to reach the 20 torx screw. Took me 10 minutes.

Installation:Popping out the top plastic panel is extremely easy. There is a side with slices in the foam that line up with the plastic in the intake. You just line up the slices with the plastic and push in.Material/Quality:The advertise picture says Hepa material but it's definitely not HEPA. It's thin, lightweight and Transformed, so it's mainly for blocking out large debris and not any smoke or car exhaust. The fit is snug thanks to the filter's flexibility.Overall:I was happy about the price (~20 after tax), but disappointed in the quality. The idea is great, but it doesn't seem like it will for more than a month with all the debris in the air from wildfires and. I can probably get the same effect for cheaper and more uses by buying a large sheet of aquarium filter and cutting it to size.

I had not realized that this filter is not meant to replace a Tesla filter which was not deemed needed or practical by Tesla. This works as a pre-filter, to reduce the load on the main cabin filters and fits quite well though not in an actual frame. I docked a star because that was not made clear and because I am worried that this filter may cause a problem if rain or car wash gets it wet. Since it has no rating for working when wet and this area under the Frunk is not gasket-ed or baffled against such intrusion of water. If the mfg can explain this to assuage my concern I will add a star.

I received my SUMK Tesla Model 3 air intake filter within a few days of placing my order. The installation was very easy. After the first day I noticed that the filter has already prevented small objects from going into the intake area so I am happy with this purchase. The air intake filter is something that Tesla should have provided from the factory so I am glad there are companies like SUMK that offer aftermarket options. I order two filters so that I will be able to replace the filter when needed. Hopefully this filter will help reduce the amount of particles that get to the more expensive cabin filters which are not as easy to replace.

The filter is well made and fits in its spot like a glove.Keeping outside debris from the fresh air channels of your vehicle is a good idea. I suspect that large items, leaves, stems, etc. can be removed with a shot of compressed air to extend the life of the filter. Changing monthly seems to be a bit much, but then I use mostly recirculated air due to my allergies this time of year. Might be different in other seasons.
