The wedge pillow is advertised as 12.2 inches at the triangle. Mine is only about 8 inches. Is this correct?

Is the memory foam used in this pillow cool or is it hot ? also is it high density foam or the soft type ? how much support ?

To me, it is neither cool or hot. The foam isn't soft. It is advertised as high density memory foam and I would say it works well. It seems to support my back. I've been happy with the Bed Wedge set. I've had it over a year and it still feels great for my back.

How do the vacuum bags work?

has anyone noticed a chemical smell?

It has the normal memory foam smell. Leaving it in a well ventilated area for a day or two should allow it to off-gas enough not to smell anymore.
