FILA Surface Care Solutions PRW200 Grout Release, 1 QT

This solvent does exactly what it says it does. It lets you clean up grout from poorest surfaces. Have used it with tile, but I think this particular one is best used with a more porous and irregular surface, such as stone. Regardless, it does a great job of removing any over grouting that I do. I am quite impressed with how well this works. One does need to ventilate out the work area.

This is a grout release solution to be used prior to grouting your tile or stone project. I have not tried it on any tile but, it works great for stone work. It is a chemical mixture and I don’t recommend using without proper ventilation. I wore gloves and opened the window while I applied it and had no adverse reaction whatsoever. I used this solution on a rock fireplace that needed to have several areas where the original grout had fell out and needed to be replaced. I have not done very much grouting and had put it off fearing I couldn’t match the original grouting. This was a real game changer as far as making it look right and the outcome was fantastic. I was able to remove the grout from the areas I needed to easily and it looks like new. There was a place where the stones had soot on them and nothing I had tried would remove the discoloration before. Now I can’t tell where the stains even were. If you plan on doing a diy project involving tile or stone then I recommend using this product. You will find it saves time and it’s a great value for the price.

I don't think I realized when I ordered this that it was not for ceramic or porcelain tile. It says it's for stone and porous materials like that. I don't really install that kind of product, so I decided to try it on porcelain tile. I used a different grout release that is designed for porcelain tile on part of the floor. Another part I didn't use any grout release. And on part of it I used this product (which is not really recommended for porcelain tile). The tile cleaned up better where this was used than where none was used, but not nearly as good as the area where I used what was designed for porcelain tile. This product is much thinner, which makes sense if using it on a porous surface, as it would soak in better if it's runnier. But that meant there wasn't as thick of a barrier on the porcelain tile to keep the grout from sticking. So this may work good on what it is intended to be used, but it's not the best product to use on porcelain tile.

Super easy to use. Works perfectly to remove grout stains from tiles. Definitely a d.i.y. must have.

This grout release works very well and makes cleanup after grouting much easier. It applies easily and helps prevent grout from sticking to the tile surface. A great product to use before grouting, especially for textured or porous tiles. Definitely a time-saver for tile projects.

I used FILA PRW200 on our marble floor before grouting, and I’m glad I did. It goes on easily with a microfiber cloth or roller, dries quickly, and doesn’t change the color or finish of the tile at all. After grouting, I noticed right away that cleanup was faster and there was a lot less grout haze to scrub off — the grout just didn’t stick to the surface the way it normally does. You can tell it’s working because wiping down tiles after grouting feels much easier. I also like that it’s water-based and low-odor, so no harsh chemical smell while applying it. Just a heads-up: this needs to be applied before you grout, so it’s a planning-ahead step, not a fixer for stains afterward. Coverage depends on how porous your material is — my quart went a little less far than I expected on very absorbent tile, but still worth every penny for the time it saved me cleaning. If you’re installing stone, terracotta, or other absorbent tile and want a professional-looking finish without grout haze headaches, PRW200 is absolutely worth it.

I used the FILA Grout Release on a large-format tile wet room shower, and it absolutely deserves five stars.
