Well, I really hoped this would work but, after noticing a lot of wasp activity a few weeks after hanging, we found a nest built inside the decoy.

My fiancé and I recently went on our second trip to the Sierra Nevada mountains here in California. On our first trip the Wasps were a serious issue, so much so that we ate most of our meals in the car. They are incessant, persistent, mean, and bold. We thought these would be a great solution! The product itself came exactly as you'd expect, looks and builds up similar to a paper lantern. Reminder: you will need something to hold it up like wire, string etc. Sadly, it did NOTHING to deterr our wasp enemies. they would even walk all over and in it. We ended up sticking up all 6 within our campsite to see if it would help. It did not. we had the best luck with **Safely** setting up logs to smoke around your food area and adding citronella essential oil. This is by far the best solution! I'd say skip these and try something else.

I never would have guessed there was such a thing as a fake wasp nest, or guessed that I might have a use for such a thing. I plant milkweed for Monarch butterflies, and did know that certain wasps parasitize the caterpillars so they cannot turn into butterflies. A website about raising butterflies suggested that when wasps see a fake wasp nest, they think they are intruding into another wasp colony territory, so they leave. I am not sure that is 100% true, but I was willing to test the theory. Too early to say, but the fake wasp nest is a work or art in its own right, and was easy to put together and hang under the eave where it looks a bit like a Chinese lantern.

Easy to assemble and more durable than expected. This is the second time I have ordered these. Once I saw how well they worked, I ordered more for my daughter's house warming gift. It is a must have in areas with wasp issues. We are in Louisiana where red wasps make nests everywhere. I am allergic so wanted to try out decoy nests to eliminate the possibility of nests near my home. For 3 years we battled the aggressive red wasp nests built on the eaves and overhangs of our home. We have used these decoys for 2 summers now and have not had one nest built on or near our home. Fantastic!
