Recommended.Ignore ratings under 4 stars, and be skeptical of the 4-star ratings. These reviewers seem to have missed a significant reason, perhaps The Reason, for buying the book and building the projects: building the projects (manually, not CNC, every few years, to preserve one's skills) to a standard that would be seen as acceptable and fit-for-use by any journeyman machinist in a production (or, even better, tool room) environment.

Excellent!
Mr. Hall has produced yet another well written volume of workshop items along with explaining his approach to design and execution of the machining. I enjoy his writing style and have little difficulty with following his 'Britishisms'. Although these items are perhaps more mundane than a dividing head, etc, the self-feeding tapping stand is well worth the cost of the book. I intend to build a scaled-up version.

It is available to use when I need it.
I liked the availability of this, even though I have not had a chance to study it and use it. I still like having the books around.

Incredible value
I have purchased quite a few books from Model Engineer via The Wordery. They are an incredible value. They always arrive before the stated dates and the price cannot be beat. I've just ordered a bunch more.

Not worth the cost for little information or inspiration.
Most of the books in this series are worth the cost. This one, not so much. Pretty dated with nit that are easily acquired commercially. Just can’t say it was worth the price of admission.

Easy to make projects for model/ hobby engineering
Lots of interesting projects, with adequate explanations, drawings and guidance to suit a range of reader's skills and experience. For those starting out in machining, model engineering etc, this is an excellent resource of tried and tested techniques. Having spent my whole career in Engineering manufacturing, I enjoyed reading this little book and several others in the series. I don't have machine tools currently or a workshop ! It costs about the same as a magazine !

Model Engineers' Workshop Projects
Looked on Harold Halls website & the projects looked interesting, so I bought the book. Not made any of them yet, but some will be done when I have time! I shall have to convert the metric measurements to imperial, as I have imperial machines. Just call 1mm as .040", most of the metric screw threads can use BA equivalents if you don't have the metric taps & dies to hand.

Model Engineers' Workshop Projects
So far this book has proved to be a treasure trove of ideas for organising my workshop. Looking ahead I can see other projects which look interesting and useful. However, do not be surprised that there is a degree of repetition from some of Mr Hall's other books on lathe and mill work which initially was a little disappointing. However, on further investigation I realised that the projects are there without the chatty hand holding and for an experienced engineer (not me) this might be advantageous. For a beginner, it's worth buying. If you already have his books on basic lathe and mill operations, you might want to think before you buy - but still buy it!
