I used my tape measure: I have a 27" waist and 36" hips. Despite, the guidance message, to me, saying that "Medium will fit you best", the Size Chart said this: S(mall) (Waist) 26 - 27 (Hips) 36 - 37.5. So, I ordered the small. They fit me perfectly, and are quite comfortable.
