best espresso beans found in the USA so far
A handful of colleagues and I have an informal "coffee club" at work, where we have access to commercial coffee makers (for instance the Unic Twin Mira or similar). My goal has been that of reproducing the caffe`from a typical Italian bar (plain espresso, no milk). I have tried many brands and mixes (Lavazza, Segafredo, and several local brands like Blue Bottle etc.). This one does a very good job---perfect strength, zero acidity, strong crema. For comparison, here are the top three:1. Borbone Rossa2. Musetti Regular Espresso (aka Espresso Select), also very good, a close second, but often unavailable3. Lavazza Gran Riserva, subtler flavor but some acidity (and believe me, we try a lot of grind/brew variations). The Borbone is also quite consistent. We have consumed 3 1kg packs in less than 3 months and didn't notice any variation between packs. Surprisingly, the package suggests that these beans are intended for vending machines ("distributori automatici") and in fact they are quite inexpensive on amazon.it (less than 1/2 the price of amazon.com). But what can I say---if it's good, it's good.

Didn't like it much.
It was a little bit sour. I think it wasn't fresh.

Delicioso
A wild Italian espresso. The taste is rough compared to Italian espressos made from Arabica beans, but still flavorful and pleasing. I alternate between Borbone Red and Borbone Blue, which is an Arabica/Robusto mix. I wish these beans came in one pound bags so that I could rotate more often. I also put Manaresi in my rotation. I recommend all of them.

It was fresh and sealed.
It tastes good. We previously tried the Blue, which was good also.

I have not found better coffee beans
The Borbone blue is delicious. Super flavorful with a thickness that would normally come from a bar in Italy. The only thing better may be Borbone Gold.

Delicious but The 70% price hike ...
My daughter brought back a bag of these beans for us from Italy last year and we loved it. We were pretty excited to find it available on Amazon. The price was moderate, but acceptable and I put it on a regular subscription. Then one month, it failed to arrive on time and we received a notice it was on back order. The price went up $5 a bag, and I accepted then next couple of shipments. Then... it went up another $5.00 a bag to the current price. I really love this coffee, but it's gone up $5 a pound in a year. Can't buy it anymore. If you're willing and you like a good smooth dark roast, go for it!

Really bad coffee.
Soooooo dry that when put in my Burr grinder, the beans seemed to turn to dust even set at medium. Horrible taste, bitter and I like strong dark roast. Not sure if I got a really old bag but don't recommend at all
