Absolutely worth it!
Long review! These Magura Mt5e brakes are definitely worth the upgrade. Along with buying the brakes on Amazon I also purchased 2 new Magura rotors. Magura’s highly 'recommend' (but not completely necessary) using their 2mm thick rotors because their wear limit is 1.8mm thick. Most other rotors sold start at 1.8mm. My front is 180mm disc and rear is 160mm disc. Magura brake pistons are built to handle the 1.8mm wear limit. If your pads are worn down to the bare minimum and the rotor is at 1.8mm or thinner the pistons could come out of the caliper. Even bike shops will tell you its recommend to use 2mm but not completely necessary. There are even thicker rotors out there you could use but you have to go off that rotors wear limit. After doing the Magura recommend burn/break-in, these brakes perform flawlessly. I did adjust both levers to my preferred reach limit. I did have to shorten both lines. I actually thought the rear line wouldn't be long enough to reach my rear brake because I did run my rear line internally, but I had about 2 ft I had to trim. Because I opened the system, I did have to bleed both front and rear lines. I watched multiple YouTube videos on this specific brake. I did not use Magura’s bleed kit but another kit I already had for my wife's eBike that was made for multiple types of brakes for bleeding including Magura. The bleeding on the rear was a little more difficult because I was not able to lift the caliper above the lever because my rear line was run internally, (and didn't want to raise the rear of the bike higher than the lever) however it went very good, especially since it was my first time bleeding Magura brakes. The front bleed was much easier because I was able to hold the caliper above the lever. I did purchase Magura’s Royal Blood (blue) mineral oil for these brakes.I've read Magura brakes are notoriously hard to bleed but I did not have any issues at all. I'm 6ft, 237lbs and my bike weighs 79lbs. That's 316lbs and stopping from 25mph, without locking up the wheels, is about 7-8 ft in dry conditions. You can easily lock up either brake if needed. I purposely tested both brakes by locking the rear brake up, and simply finding that sweet spot for the front brake so I could find the range for both brakes. If your not ready for that emergency when it happens, you could end up getting hurt by not knowing your braking force with these brakes. And as always it is never safe to lock up your front brake, but it is advisable to at least know where that limit is on your specific bike and lever limit/range/pull. I did change the brake pads to the single pads, one pad for each piston. The pictures still show the double pads because I never took new pictures with the single pads on the brakes. The pads that come with the Mt5e are the double pads and you have to remove the caliper to change them. I didn't want to have to remove the calipers ever time I needed to replace pads. Yes the double pads are cheaper but more work to change them. However, they were still very good at stopping the bike. With the single pads you can manually adjust each piston if the pads are wearing differently. There are YouTube videos on how to make those adjustments by removing one pad and pulling your lever, JUST A LITTLE. But please watch those videos to learn how to adjust each piston if you ever need to. Most likely, if they are installed properly, you shouldn't ever have to adjust these brakes pistons but it is nice that you can do that with these if needed. My bike is the HeyBike Explore. It's a big bike with 26x4 wheels/tires and these brakes are perfect for it. If your on the fence about these brakes, get off the fence and buy them. Some people only buy one for the front brake. I've read that most people will buy a four piston brake for the front and a double piston for the rear, 180mm disc for the front and 160mm disc for the rear. I just bought two of these brakes from here and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. I already had the red two pin connector on my bike so it was plug and play for me. Also, Magura states their brakes do NOT need to be bled unless you have to open the system for some reason. (Shortening a line, replacing a broke or damaged line from riding, etc.) Other hydraulic brakes (some) need to have their mineral oil changed once a year. Check it out on Magura’s website. I have never had any loud noise from the brakes, no squealing, no rotor noise or vibration. I can just barely hear them make the connection to the rotor when I apply them. If you're wondering how much play is In the handle to activate the brake light and turn the motor off, it is very very small movement. These brakes are set for a system that is normally open (NO). When you pull your lever it closes the connection and stops the motor and turns the brake light on. (If you have a brake light.) In my pictures of the lever you can see the split were the wire goes into the lever so you can see how small the space/gap is when the lever is pulled. When I pull the lever I don't even notice it.I would love to try Magura’s new ABS brakes when they come out.Hopefully this helps a little! 🚵♀️

Fantastic Hydraulic Disc Brakes from the Leaders in Hydraulic Disc Brakes
These brakes are fantastic. Spot on performance with no fade even on 300 lbs of bike, gear, and rider. It was also nice to have such complete documentation included and I had no questions during installation that the manual did not cover. I appreciate that all attachments and hydraulics use a T25 driver and torque values are included for EVERYTHING. The signaling worked perfectly with my Bafang G063 setup. Pads didn't last long, but the magnetic and hook setup make for fast changes.By the way, the Miles Racing Semi Metallic pads are a nice replacement for MT5e brakes!

Good upgrade for Juiced Ripcurrent S
Just upgraded both brakes on my Juiced Ripcurrent S with these, and 203mm MDR-C rotors. These have the correct normally-open cut off switches. The HIGO connectors are compatible with the Julet ones on the bike, but both are male. You need an adapter or to change either connector to female. The front spacer is a QM42. For the rear I ended up using the old one from the front, filed down a bit. I’d love to know the correct rear spacer part number. Edit : For rear it is QM9.All the squealing from the stock brakes is gone and there’s tons of silent, controllable braking power.

Magura MT5e hydro put on RadWagon4 to replace mech brakes
Not a perfect fit, but decent if flimsy electronic brake line (spooky thin and a wee short vs stock length on Radwagon 4). The brake pads burned out fast as heck ~250miles in a couple months vs stock Radwagon 4 mechanical brakes that we got 2900miles...so beware and buy stock in pads. Also its very timeconsuming to run the rear brake line through RadWagen4 chassis. The brake lines are like 2meter long so you can coil them up (LAZY jankee) or properly trim them (this takes time...). The brakes come preloaded with fluid so no need to bleed/top up if you leave them at full length.

Impressive
Mounted these to my Super73 R series with some lite nonintrusive modifications and work perfectly. The stopping power of these plus 220mm F rotor and 203mm R rotor is perfect.

These brakes perform flawlessly.
These brakes are so powerful. They can lock the wheels instantly if you want them to but they also have excellent modulation to slow the bike with light application. They are also quiet with no shuddering. The switches to stop the motor when the brakes are applied works perfectly too. For me these are the perfect Ebike brakes. I could not ask for any better performance. The installation was easy too. They came prefilled. I did have to cut and shorten the lines but it was simple and I was careful so they worked perfectly without messing with the bleed screws. Would I prefer metal brake handles? Yes, but the performance is so magnificent that I am elated with them. If I crash and break a handle I’ll be cursing them but right now I’m loving them. They perform flawlessly!

The cut off for the motor will not fit my Bafang motor. Useless.
