What happens if you touch the grid?????

You'll get an electric shock & it will hurt. There is a voltage of 770vDC across the grid (I put my multimeter across the bars). The current won't be more than a few mA, so it won't kill you, just teach you not to be so stupid.

What size batteries are they please? Hoping they are AA or AAA

It takes two AA's, it is the most effective killer of unpleasant flies, moths in your house, who ever designed it should get the OBE.

Is this thing supposed to give electric shocks even without pressing the on button. I had a small shock as I opened the packaging. Is mine faulty?

Perhaps the on button got pressed during the packaging process. Once it is pressed the gadget holds its charge until it touches on something (in theory a fly, but in reality, anything including your own hand!). It holds this charge for ages - I have discovered this through bitter experience. Hope this helps.

What? There are 2 types of Executioner'sOne runs on 2 x AA batteries and the other is the Pro that runs on type 2 x C batteries, these are the smaller of the larger type D round batteries, they can be found in most good supermarkets or even online thru Amazon, i use Duracell Plus size C batteries. The Executioner standard model has a slightly smaller head than the Pro and does the same job but personally i prefer the Bigger headed Pro, i have both and bring the standard one on holidays as it is easier to find 2 x AA batteries in foreign countries like Brazil or Spain
