Great functionality in a small compact drill
I had a really long screw the builder had put into wood that my drill would not remove. Typical the more pressure you apply, the more you will strip the screw. I happened to have a plumber at the house and asked if he had one of those tools to remove a strip screw. He said I can get that out in 5 minutes. He showed me this drill. I have bought a new compact drill recently but they did not have the features of this one. The multiple speed selection of soft, hard, or A is awesome. The key in getting a new drill is the “high impact” feature. I used it to drill into brick mortar and then used to put screws in the mortar. Awesome, awesome. At high speed it did not strip the screw head and drilled the screw in mortar very similar to a high impact wrench removing a lug nut. Sold! Also very compact and light weight.

Useful Information
This is a bad a** little driver. Much more power than it’s size leads to believe. I keep it in my grab-n-go tool bag that has all the most reliable and essential tools most often needed. Lately I’ve been using the bag that came along with this package. It’s made of canvas material and seems quite durable. Malita has integrated 3 modes to select from and the trigger controls variable speed in all three. Slow, fast and an assist mode that starts slow and easy, gradually increasing speed, torque and impact as it senses increasing resistance. Cool. Work light w/ delay as well as indicator lights on the batteries. Batteries charge on the Makita charger (included) very quickly. I have not timed charging, but seems like an hour or less to me. One battery included. The chuck is a quick release type accepting 1/4” impact bits with quick release notch. For 1” bits you will need a bit holder. Some may argue or complain that this chuck is not a “true” quick release because you must pull it out in order to insert a bit. Bits cannot be just pushed in as on some other models. I recommend this little Makita. In particular, I recommend for anyone who goes to multiple jobs in a day, handymen/DIY’ers and those who may have smaller hands or limited upper body strength.

Lightweight AND Powerful!
I love my new battery powered impact/screwdriver! I had had another Makita and enjoyed it, but it didn’t have enough power(12V). I have been putting off purchasing a new tool because of the weight of a typical 18V screwdriver. This is sub-compact. I now have the “power” I want as well as the lightweight maneuverability I desire! The battery life so far is great as well. Highly recommended!

Compact size and low weight are awesome.
Compact size and and very low weight. I normally use nearly all Milwaukee tools. But the black series Makita drills are awesome if your carrying the drill a lot. They also have very good power.

Awesome but reverse switch broke
I work in RV doing doors and drawers so I use a whole lot of screw continuously for hours. Love how lightweight it is...but it is now been 4 months and the reverse switch just stopped working.I'm buying this same drill again hoping it was a fluke. Wish it would have last more than 4 months.

Small and Packs a Punch
Had the driver for a few weeks now, and it has passed every challenge I have thrown at it. Drives screws up to 3-1/2" with no issues, removed a stuck oil plug, strong enough to pull off the mower blades, and with the auto mode you have enough control to handle something as delicate as electrical outlet covers. Battery is still running on the original charge with no signs of slowing down.
