Works great. Not for anchoring large boats.
It's an anchor. It's heavy. The hole is big enough to tie to an anchor line. I use it to keep my boat oriented out at high tide so it is easier to launch. This kind of anchor isn't for totally anchoring a 14' boat as it could simply be dragged with the motor (I know, I've done it!) but it works for my purpose. Would be great for holding on a soft or sandy bottom while fishing, too. We used it for a couple of months with no issues. Those little holes could be bigger- it tends to fill with sand and then be harder to dump clean than if the sand fell through.

Perfect for My Particular Application
Yes, I know that it's only an anchor. But for my 14-foot jon boat on the freshwater creeks and rivers of Virginia Beach and North Carolina it is the PERFECT size! This anchor easily holds my boat in place in winds gusting up to 20 mph. (If it's windier than that, I don't go fishing.) At the same time, it is NOT cumbersome, as was the 15-pound anchor it replaced. Bottom line? Select your anchor based on the size of your boat and the conditions under which you will use it!

Not Using This As A Boat Anchor
We have an Outdoor Xmas lighted wall plaque on our porch which gets hit with a lot of wind. We need something to tie it off to. Although the hole stood out farther than the wall, my husband attached a bolt so that we could drop a line to the anchor. A little bit overkill but we hope it does the job. Crossed fingers.

Small but mighty
Exactly what I ordered and received. Looks great and weight is exactly 10lbs. Cant wait to throw it in the river/lake.

Anchors Away!
I feel silly admitting this, but the main reason I bought it was for eight girls to tie up our pool floats and paddleboards out in a lake on girls' weekend. While we may not have managed to get out far in the lake, I attached one end of the rope to the dock, one end to the anchor, and I paddled out as far as the rope would go and dropped anchor. We ended up using it as tow line for those on floats to get away from the mucky shoreline, and it really did work perfectly. I would have never thought a little ten pound anchor would stay in place and not drag while we pulled ourselves along it, but sure enough, it worked perfectly and exactly as we intended. It was also much easier than I expected to pull up while sitting on my SUP. I'll continue using this while out on the lakes on my SUP when I want to just float and take a beer break :)

Used to anchor out a lily pad!
These boat anchors are perfect for moving a lily pad away from the dock and boat! They’re easy to use and hold everything in place, keeping the lily pad exactly where you want it. A simple and effective solution for keeping things organized and safe for the kids on the water. Definitely a handy tool for boaters!

It's an anchor. It worked. Nuff said.
Used this to anchor my paddle board to a fixed location while I taught myself (well tried to...) wing sail. A 250' length of rope let me sail around in a decent size area. This anchor held fast and kept me from becoming fish food. Good deal for a decent quality item. I do believe this will eventually rust if left untreated.
