Ground Fennel Seed Tin

Not real ground fennel seed. It is some ground seed which has been flavored with licorice which has a similar flavor to fennel. Writing to the company Spice Cubed about the problem produced no response. The ingredient in licorice which can raise blood pressure and have other adverse side effects is a sweet-tasting compound called glycyrrhizin.There are a variety of adverse reactions to consuming glycyrrhizin and most products containing glycyrrhizin state that the glycyrrhizin has been reduced to make them safe. But the licorice-like flavor in fennel is created by a natural compound called anethole, which does not affect blood pressure or any of the other adverse health effects of glycyrrhizin. Because this product is generally used in small amounts, the risk may be low. But a company which does not reply to a health concern from a customer does not deserve our trust.

My battery operated grinder broke and a hand grinder hurts my wrists so this solves my problem. Hard to find ground fennel.

Clever idea ,if the can were easier to open.

The tin leaks quite a bit, but it was nice to find ground fennel instead of fennel seed, and at a fair price. Not sure how long it will stay fresh in this container, though.

Went to several retail stores and no one carried ground fennel. Went online and found this spice at a very reasonable price.Arrived a day before the expected arrival date.Haven't use it yet but it smells fresh.

So glad I found this. I use this in pizza sauce and other recipes that call for fennel. A little goes a long way!
