Seven Gnossiennes: Piano Solo
K**Y
Peculiar notation
If you are a less experienced musician you may find the notation in this version peculiar. There is no time signature and no bars between measures. Also the left hand is split between the bass and treble staffs instead of entirely on the bass. None of these are insurmountable but you may prefer a version written in more conventional notation.

Excellent Edition of Satie's Works
This edition is a great addition to your collection. I've seen other editions of Satie's Gnossiennes and I honestly prefer this one. Why? For one, it's very readable as far as ink/print/size go. But, as another reviewer noted, the editor did NOT add in bar lines / split the music up into measures for some of the pieces in which Satie never intended this to be split up. I much prefer it like this as it adds to more of the drawn out, dreamy, spacey, airy, pensive, and contemplative nature of his music. This applies to No's 1-4 and No. 6. No. 5 and No. 7 DO indeed have measures/bar lines. Also, this edition is worth it alone for the fact that it contains the ever elusive Gnossienne No. 7. Additionally it includes a nice biography of the composer as well as detailed chronology of the pieces. A+ edition!

Excellent edition
The longer I have this and the more pieces I play from it, the more I realize that this edition can be solidly trusted. There are a LOT of typos in other editions, which often drop a grace note here or there (Gnossienne 4, for example), or have other mistakes, or musical direction that Satie never added. I'm really happy I found this one, and it's an excellent printed compilation of all 7 Gnossienne together. Highly recommended.

Great transcription!
The historical context provided in this folio gives the student of classical music a new perspective on the French impressionist movement. The transcription itself is clear and well laid out. I highly recommend this edition of Satie's works.

Notation very annoying
The notation in this book is terrible. The left hand is split between the bass and treble clef, which is unnecessarily confusing. What makes it even more annoying is that it is inconsistent. Sometimes the left hand is written all on the bass clef, other times it is split, the same chords will be written differently just a couple of measures apart. Doesn't make any sense.
