Not what I expected
This book isn’t what I was looking for, but it was still a valuable tool to help build a website. I was seeking a how-to book to help me choose website building software and use it to build a website. This book doesn’t really do that. This book provides a very brief overview of many different website builders but does not go into the step-by-step process that I needed in order to make my website a reality. For example, in a section covering "Connecting Your Domain to Your Platform", the author says, "If you feel this is sounding a little too techie... don’t be dismayed. Your platform will give you very precise instructions as to how this is done..." Unfortunately for me I was looking for very precise instructions as to how this is done. What this book does very well, however, is explain some of the finer points of website design and building that a beginner will probably overlook. For example, you probably wouldn’t consider in advance that "...you’re better off building your site entirely yourself, using one of the simpler DIY systems, than getting a techie friend to help you with a more complicated system. You’ll kick yourself if you can’t work out how to make changes on your website yourself..." Knowing that information before you build your website can save you a lot of trouble later. (Don’t ask how I know.)At the recommendation of a friend I found an on-line class at Udemy that takes me step-by-step through the education I needed. This book will supplement that class by helping to make my website work better for me.There are lots of tidbits of information scattered throughout this book – enough to definitely make it worth your while to buy and read it. Just know that you won’t be getting a book that will tell you how to actually create a website, but it will help you create one that will do what you want it to better. One very annoying cutesy thing about this book is the method of numbering pages. Pages are numbered in pairs (eg: "14>15") on the left page only. This means that if you are flipping through the book searching for a particular page you must turn the book so the back is up and flip through it in reverse. I’m sure the publisher thought that this would contribute to the avant-garde look of the book, but it’s really just an annoyance.

Best DIY Website Book I have!!
Really like this book. It has already helped me to figure out how to change my domain name and has given me the confidence to start building my own website. The book is supported by Alannah's website which offers even more insight into the process of creating your own site. The book is user friendly and works well for someone who does not understand all the computer lingo. The set-up and pictures in the book make it really easy to follow and she gives you all the real important information you must know to do it yourself!!Thanks Alannah Moore for helping out the Non-Geeks!!

Needs more detail
For the novice it needs more detail when you choose to use a web page format. Suggestion is definitions of termsused by different providers.

Not at all what I was expecting
Not at all what I was expecting, I guess I wanted to see some useful info that I could actually put to use, not just referral info.

I knew nothing about creating a website...
I knew nothing about creating a website. I thought you need to know some kind of coding or graphic design. This book alleviated so much stress. Because of this book I was able to create and publish my business website on WIX. Thank you again. This book is part of my business resource library in my office.

Extremely helpful for first-time site creators
Very helpful in building a website. I'm a tech dinosaur and it really helped get me started. Especially helpful in picking a website builder, registering a domain name, attending to the site's visuals, etc. Just the thing for a noob like me. It's packed with lots of references to useful sites. I keep it on my desk. Allanah Moore's writing is very clear, concise and entertaining. Would love to take one of her seminars.

really enjoyable to use and learn from
I found this much better than I was expecting, excellent pertinent info, beautifully presented and laid out - no filler. For beginners it is perfect and more experienced web users will probably learn quite a bit from it. Five stars all the way, my thanks to the author.

Such a useful reference
We read this and compared notes with other forums as we prepared our business site. Subsequently, it has proved a useful resource to return to for backup information and reference. I am really pleased to have purchased this guide.
