Baroque Art Gilders Paste - Highlight Metal, Wood and More! "Antique Gold" 1.5 oz

This is a very cool product for adding some color and sheen to my woodworking projects. It is easy to apply and fun to use.

I love Gliders Paste! Antique Gold is a rich gold color and blends with most of the other colors available. I have used Antique Gold with Pinotage and African Bronze on wood - it looked fabulous. I like to blend colors, there are endless different effects you can achieve with Gilders Paste. I usually allow the Gilders Paste to dry over night before I buff the the wood or metal.

Take a little dab and run this around a picture frame to add a little metallic color. It is quick and easy to use, spreads easily, and will quickly change the look of just about anything. Dried quick enough to turn a $20 mirror into $125 mirror in less than 15 minutes.

I didn't even know a wax COULD dry out! But, I had a bad feeling about this product when it CLINKED in the tin before I even opened it (never a good sign). Unfortunately, it was so dried out that it was crumbly and unusable (I tried), and I have to return it. There was a nice, typed note included with the product, but, really, it would seem that the seller could have given the package a quick shake to see if it was good. So, I have no idea how well the fresh product works, but was hoping the darker gold would color correct a lighter product.

I love the color, although it is darker than pictured. Very disappointed with the status of the product, it was crumbled in pieces and hard like a crayon. The instructions said to apply with finger, brush, cloth, or sponge; it was too dried and hard for that. It also says that product dries in 10 minutes but it was dried when applied. On an up note it can be applied like a crayon.

I was expecting the color to be an aged gold, but it just looks copper. I wish they had a color chart more than just what the paste looks like in the tin. I would have chosen a different color. The website also said it wipes off easily and can be used as a glaze. I'm not sure what product they were using but it wasn't this. I really wanted to like this stuff, but I'm going to try Rub n Buff next. I think I can feel more confident in the color choices with that product.

Shipping was very timely. The price was very good and the product works great. It's hard to find the thicker, pastier consistency in these rubs. This is thicker than any others that I have found at this time.
