I had held off buying it because I thought I had heard it wasn't as good as the Nova dreamer I had years ago. I loved the Nova dreamer (not available anymore) and this product is fabulous too. I haven't found any downsides. It's comfortable to wear and I sleep on my side. You can adjust the settings to make it work best for you. I am very satisfied and wish I had bought it sooner. Review: it has made my dream recall worse in that I've been waiting for something to happen ... - After having ordered the product, it does not do the thing it has been marketed as doing - that is, if it is activated and I rapidly move my eyes to simulate REM movement, or even if I wave my hands quickly in front of the sensors while the room is dark, no red lights can be seen to be flashing. This is not to say that the sensor does not work or that the lights do not flash since it does it's own thing during the night whether I am dreaming or not. Furthermore, it has made my dream recall worse in that I've been waiting for something to happen (given that this product is meant to be a dreaming aid rather than something on my face) which hasn't. I only get woken up randomly by flashing lights or beeping if I have (dare I?) tried to enhance the settings to make it function out of hope. The only way I can envision this product working is if I am coincidentally having a dream at the moment the lights are flashing randomly, yet I have calculated the rate of this occurring as being once a week if I am lucky.
