Great for amphibians!
I use these fixtures along with 13 watt, 5.0 UVB bulbs to light my dart frog terrariums. The fixtures are ideal for frogs because they allow you to provide UVB light essential for processing vitamins without heating the terrarium (as most UV lamps sold for desert reptiles do). They are attractive and easy to use. I've had one for several years now, and it's still going strong.

Does its job
I bought this to hold a 100 watt CHE and heat a 2x2 C&C cage for a hedgehog. After getting the clamp system attracted to the lamp housing, which took longer then it should have, it's not bad to look at. Being a person that doesn't normally have this sort of clamp lamp in the house I would have been grateful for some directions. Though I managed well enough just looking at the picture on the box. The whole thing is very simple once you get what goes where. Directions may have just helped me from feeling foolish. The lamp does what it's suppose to, however, like many people have said the CHE does seem too heavy for it and I have had to tighten the screw rather tight just to keep it from falling down against itself. It's something I can live with though. The clamp part itself works though is most definitely not meant to be attached to narrow areas. Mine, as I stated, is on my C&C cage and the wire part was just letting the whole thing slip to the side. I fixed this problem with four cable ties. It's not going anywhere now. I don't find that I lose much heat with the open area around the bulb. The cage still stays around 75-76 and that's where I need it. Happily I can say the lamp itself never feels very hot (though it does only have to keep the temperature a few degrees above that of the room) so I don't feel terribly worried about it overheating.

Great so far!
Got it so I could get a mercury vapor bulb. So far it works great and looks good, so if it continues as it has so far will definitely get another one of these to replace my other older lamp.Didn’t end up needing to use the clamp, but it looks pretty sturdy and easy enough to put together. Just needs to be attached and tightened.

Safest product on the market
Zoo Med advised this is the safest product. I had a small fire with a product made by PetSmart. This product keeps bulbs at a safe temperature. Highly recommended.

functional, but seems cheap compared to exoterra's wire clamp lamp
I have both the zoo med and the exoterra wire clamp lamps (small sized) for Ceramic Heat Emitters - both are hooked up to thermostats to regulate temperature and both arrived new and undamaged... I got the zoomed one this time around because it was slightly less expensive than the exoterra that I purchased for a different terrarium a couple of months before. Overall, it seems to be a much lower quality item; while the exoterra one has a label indicating on and off, the zoomed one does not (which is not great as it is difficult to tell whether a CHE is on or off without waiting for a bit and feeling the bulb); the area where the clamp in attached to the lamp also seems less secure than the exoterra and the CHE fit less securely in to the zoo med version causing me to wonder whether the CHE would stay put or simply fall out. The zoomed version also required me to attach the clamp portion to the lamp which was not really a big deal, but was a bit annoying. I would recommend spending the couple of extra dollars and buying the nicer exoterra wire cage clamp lamp for the CHE.

Exactly what was needed
I have always used the solid ceramic lighting which have worked great until I started using the Exo Terra Solar Glo 160w bulb for one of my reptiles. That bulb being fully encased just got too hot and ended up failing on me way to quickly. I got this wire clamp lamp for the solar glo bulb to increase air flow and help it stay a little cooler. So far it is doing great and the bulb is lasting longer then before. Well worth it.update: About 3 months after purchasing the unit failed on me. Bulbs would no longer work. I called up Zoo Med and told them of the issue. They promptly took care of the issue and I have received a replacement which works well. There customer service is excellent for being as large a company as they are. I will not hesitate to buy their stuff in the future.

Pretty good
I bought this at the recommendation of my lovebird's vet to help keep her warm during the cold months. I attach this to a cage topper and point it downwards towards her cage. It helps keep her cage and even the whole (albeit, small) room warmer. I do worry about leaving it on while I'm not in the room though. I haven't had any issues with it so far, and hopefully it stays that way.

Works great
Works great with the ceramic lamp. Sits on top of the wire mesh cover over the aquarium which is part of the gerbil 's home. The heat does not travel far - maybe 4 or 5 inches with the 60 watt ceramic bulb we got but it works well for us. (So the 60 watt ceramic bulb heats about 6 or 7 incehs but the cage keeps the lamp an additional 2 inches or so away from the top of the cage.) The cage makes the lamp much safer. I would not use the lamp without the cage in the setup we have. The gerbils made a nest right below the lamp so they sleep in the warmth. One of the gerbils just died, and i am glad the lonely guy left has the lamp since his snuggle buddy is gone.

Contact lousse/fragile

Bitte optimieren!

Better than Exo Terra
I have bought three Exo Terra lamps in the past and only one of them was wired correctly. Decided to try out Zoo Med instead and like it so far. The only thing to look out for is that the top of the ballast gets very hot so do not touch it and ensure the lamp can't fall over.
