8 Piece U-Shape Hair Combs for Women's French Twist Updo and Bun Vintage Styling (Black)

These work really well for my slippery, fine, wavy hair (which is just longer than shoulder length - see picture). I was impressed by how sturdy the metal felt and how well the color blends in. I twist my hair up after misting it with water for hold, and put one of the larger combs in on the crease side of the French twist like this: First, hook some hair along your scalp, then angle the comb up into the twist, and then angle the comb down again to go under the hair along the scalp on the other side of the twist. Then take a smaller comb from the set and do the same from the opposite side, up towards the top. Sprayed it all with hairspray once it was in place. It might not be how you're supposed to do it, but an older lady came up to compliment me on how elegant it looked, so I can't have botched it too much!

These are all pretty large combs. The three medium sized ones have long tines so they hold the center of the bun to enable you to put a couple hair pins around it to secure it. The two smaller ones have been working well on the side of a french roll. The two largest would be great for someone with alot of hair but too heavy for me. My hair is thin and fine.

Holy Spikoli! NOTHING stays in my hair, but a few good twists and these clips hold my hair for days!

These are solid metal!! They are very strong, slide in easily with no scalp damage as the tips are nicely rounded, and very effective. I have thin, slightly wavy, hair strands and I have a lot of them!! My hair is cut in an asymmetric bob. The shorter side just hits my shoulder and the long side is about 2" past my shoulder. So, when I'm putting my hair up, I end up with lots of different length hairs.. With these side combs I can wear a standard bun, a braided bun, a French twist, and several made-up styles that don't have names. That said, these combs hold snuggly, do not slip or get pushed out over time, they slide in easily without pulling my hair so tight that I get a 'free face lift', AND... my hair does not ever get tangled in the tines causing knots. So far I've used these on 6 different hair styles, wearing one from 3-17 hours with no discomfort! Brilliant!!

Holds the hair well. The wider ones work better than the skinnier ones. You have to make sure the skinny one has enough hair it's gripping to keep it from falling out. Made of metal, so would be hard to break or deform. More comfortable than a bunch of Bobby pins.
