Levi's Boys' Big Straight Fit Jeans-Discontinued

I've bought 514s for many years. Now, with plastic being woven into every single piece of fabric on earth (it seems), and many style choices within a style, it's a guessing game. And the style and fit that was perfect a year ago isn't perfect anymore. Of course, if your body has changed, that's not Levi's' fault. Origin of manufacture can affect fit, too. But of all jean companies, I value Levi's most. But it's a pain to make so much effort to chase down the fit that fit as well as the last purchase.

These are my small framed son's favorite jeans(he's 10) he does not like a baggy or loose fit but also does not like a skinny jean. These fit the bill for him. Nice straight legs that are not to narrow so he has room to move and sit comfortably. The only thing is the material is not " normal denim colors" it has a sheen to it inside and out but it has the feel of regular lighter weight denim. If you don't mind the sheen then you are set but if you are looking for a " traditional mat" finish these are not for you.

My son loves the "slim fit" jeans! This pair is no exception. The corduroy is not stiff and he says they are comfortable. That said, be aware that these do run slightly smaller than the denim jeans (thus the 4 star rating rather than 5). My son decided to keep the size 14 even though they were tighter around the waist ~ he thought the next size up would be a little to loose. I have washed them a couple of times, didn't shrink.

If your kid needs deep front pockets in which to put his cellphone, wallet, keys, etc., do not select Black Steel. For some reason (I'm guessing because of the fit) the front pockets are cut VERY SHORT, and therefore nothing fits in them. Also, this particular color is 63% cotton/36% polyester/1% spandex!! (The blue washes, such as Dirty Rigid, are 100% cotton). Since it's not a skinny jean, I don't see the necessity for the preponderance of poly/spandex. (My son said they fit "too loose".) We didn't return them because he had already worn them to perform in a concert, but I don't like the fabric content nor the weird pockets.

This is the only style my son will wear. Fits great for a trim teen. For reference he's about 5 feet 6 inches and 110 - 115 lbs. He likes the darker colors but not black, and I might have ordered two different colors as some pairs were 100% cotton and some the 50-50 cotton poly mix. These cotton poly have a very tiny sheen which is not really noticeable. Both types wash and wear very well. They are comfortable. Not too heavy, nor too light.

I love everything about these jeans. The fit, style, and color are all perfect for me. I've been wearing Levis jeans for many years due to the style, quality and comfort and these jeans definitely uphold the exemplary standards that I have come to expect from the company.The Eastwood finish is a very refined look and rival that of any of the more expensive designer jeans on the market today.And as always, Amazons fulfillment process is second to none!I highly recommend these jeans!

Pants fit a little big but, he'll grow into them. Great quality, durable and fashionable. I give them a 4 star.

The thickness and fabrication of the denim is totally different from color to color. I purchased Ice Cap which is a 100% cotton, crisp, summer weight denim. Glare is also 100% cotton, but thicker, softer & more winter-weight, like old-school denim. These are important considerations if you need them to withstand more wear and tear.
