Secure lock for french door
After building up with appropriate shims, this lock makes a very secure lock for a french door.

Works well
Picked this up to keep the dogs from barging into the office while on a call. Install was easy, works well, and matches the more modern aesthetic of our house…

Broke in a month
Loved the design, but it broke within a month and my return window is closed. I can't reach the seller for a refund. Would not recommend.

Attractive with No Burrs or Flaws. Luminous Paint Makes It Visible Across Dark Yard.
We have a wooden garden shed that we have been closing with a small bolt lock, the body of which has rusted. The rust made the bolt lock difficult to use. This small (and it is small, in spite of the name “Barn Door Lock”), flip lock is perfect for closing up this shed. We don’t need a high security lock, just one that has a smooth movement with a nice, clean look to it. I like that I can look from across the yard or out a window at night and see that the lock is in place because of the luminous white trim on the black matte finish. It was very easy to install.I have only one question. Why did we receive a piece of flat metal of the same zinc alloy with the latch pieces and screw? It seems to have no function—not even as a replacement part; it seems to be simply a misplaced part that does not belong.

Sturdy lock I'm using inside
I ordered the barn door lock for a small under-stair door we have in our kitchen. The door originally had a magnetic catch and pull knob, but our cats constantly would open it. Now our granddaughter is able to open it too. We've had a kettlebell and a few other weights blocking it, but it was both ugly and tedious to move each time.I forget why, but our trim pieces are off on this door. It made placing the lock easier so bonus on our procrastination. Hubby had no troubles installing this with the enclosed hardware and it seems quite sturdy. Ours is a bit askew as we were working around pre-existing holes we wanted to cover, and trying to balance that with solid placement on the other (wall) side as well. Everything lines up (what doesn't is our fault, not the product's) and it's smooth to open and close/lock. Thus far granddaughter has given up trying to open the door, but the cats haven't. They can't get it open though, so still a win. This has a glow in the dark feature, I haven't noticed the handle glowing, but haven't been looking for it either. If I shine a light on it briefly then switch off the lights, it does glow. I'm quite pleased with the latch thus far.

Not great. Didn’t last.
Liked it when installed, but it can’t handle any side pressure or “wiggle” at all. The latch broke off of ours on our small gate within a few months.

Good Construction
I am very pleased with the quality of this door latch. All the parts arrive in a small box with the screws needed for mounting bagged all together. The 2 pieces of the latch both have a bit of weight to them and do not feel cheap, nor do I think they would easily become bent. The piece that turns moves easily, but also is not so loose that it simply falls or swings freely. There is a bit of friction there to hold it at whatever angle it would be at when you let it go.While it does not include instructions, mounting is simple as you can even use a small torpedo level if you have one handy to make sure both pieces line up and are level when you install them. I recommend installing the catch piece first and ensuring it is level on top and side. After that is on, it will be easy to match up the latch piece and mark with a pencil the mounting holes to predrill for the screws.I installed this for use outside where it receives sunlight most of the day and it does light up when the sun goes down. I did note that while it does "glow" in the dark, this glow does not last all night and eventually begins to dim the longer it is in the dark. Not an issue for my use, but of note for someone who would want to be able to see it easily at all hours when it is dark. All in all, this is a nice piece of hardware, although I think it is priced a bit high and would be a better buy if it was closer to $10 than $20.
