Bipods are usually mounted folding towards the muzzle.. could it be used folding back? Would this design be strong enough when deployed?

It is not advisable because of the design of bipods. You "load" a bipod by putting slight forward pressure on it. Mounting the bipod backwards could cause it to collapse when being used.

After putting this on what do I do about a sling stud?

There is a built in sling stud on the rear portion of the bipod.

will this fit my Ruger American Go Wild rifle?

This particular model is designed to fit onto a standard sling stud, which my Savage FV-SR came standard with. Many other rifles also have this same type of stud. The stud can also be purchased separately at many places and screwed into a rifle as required.
