Uncharted Territory: A High School Reader

This is the first book by Jim Burke that I have been disappointed in (I have three - this is the fourth). While the content is challenging and thought-provoking, it's presentation is minimal and rudimentary. The size of the book is barely larger than my hand. I measured the book and came up with 6" wide x 7" long. It's small enough that an iPad screen is more inviting. I can't imagine being a student having to read, annotate, and answer questions using this size of reader. In addition, the black and white, and often times muddled pictures (Alice in Wonderland) are offputting. As this reader costs $40.00, I can't imagine this was done to save costs to schools or teachers.There's a first time for everything, and this is the first time Jim Burke has not published/presented up to his reputation.

I am highly impressed with this book. It has excellent, relevant, and varied content. The book is not cumbersome or overly heavy which is always a plus. And, as an added bonus, it has a beautiful cover.

If you are a high school English teacher, you should buy this book! Very relevant to students lives and more modern texts they can relate to.

Hard to find book - seems expensive, but will be used for all 4 years of high school.
